Reset function
I really don't think it's worth mentioning that hitting reset takes you back to the game select screen on the demo disc. Like, you're resetting the game. It would be weirder if it didn't do that. Longtime4321 (talk) 08:34, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, honestly, there was a good reason why the page no longer mentions that reseting the game takes the player back to the demo disc. Only the game taking players to the Nintendo logo instead of the title screen is mentioned. - TetraFan1000 (talk) 21:53, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- I understand your concern, usually I wouldn't think that something like pressing reset goes back to the beginning of game is noteworthy. However the current wording is:
Resetting the game will send you back to the Nintendo logo if the demo is launched separately. The final game sends you to the title screen instead.
Here it's highlighting the fact that the Mario Kart Double Dash game code is causing the game to always reset to the Nintendo logo if the demo is launched separately. This is the key point - of course if you play the US demo of Mario Kart Double Dash from one of the demo ISOs, it will reset the whole demo and like you said it's not that noteworthy to be included in the wiki. However it is also possible to play just the MKDD US Demo by running the .tgc file on Dolphin contained inside of one the multimedia demos, or converting that into an ISO and launching that via Dolphin or console. When you do that, it doesn't behave like the final game. In the final game, you no longer go back to the Nintendo logo once Lakitu appears on the screen, however when thie demo is launched separately you always go back to the Nintendo logo regardless of where you hit the reset button. --AdolescentSeagull (talk) 22:03, 8 November 2024 (UTC)- Late on the party when it comes to replying, but to touch this a bit further, just because it's possible to reset the game doesn't mean it will function like the final version. For example, resetting the game in the E3 2003 prototype of Sonic Heroes will freeze on the faded Sega logo screen. I do agree that the current wording in the prototype page could be rewritten a bit to be more clearer. Otherwise, I'm glad I was able to help a bit when it came down to this difference. - TetraFan1000 (talk) 21:18, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
