And you were just a scroll away from scaring everyone shitless, being fired, and possibly being arrested too...
Oh wow. Sometimes, you have no idea how morbid the things in these pages can be.
This page contains content that is not safe for life, whether it be you or anyone in proximity to you.
Such as: Contains gore/body horror from a successful suicide attempt and half a body crushed.

Shuujin he no Peret-em-Heru is a horror RPG set in the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt in the year 1998. Archaeologist Tetsuya Tsuchida and Dr. Koji Kuroe discover a huge set of ruins underneath the Great Pyramid filled with booby traps. Wanting to uncover the deeper parts of the pyramid, Professor Tsuchida sought out eight tourists and their tour guide for one hell of a sightseeing tour they'll never forget. This game was made by Makoto Serise using RPG Tkool Dante 98 II, and the music was composed by Kei Mizuho.

The American fan translation group Memories of Fear translated this game (as Peret em Heru: For the Prisoners) and released it on September 26, 2014.

Unused Character Icons

Peretemheru-early-character-dialogue-icons.png

Early character icons. Everyone except for Tsuchida, Mitsuru Koeiji and Soji Mizumi changed to fit the artstyle of the final build.

Unused Maps

MAP047.DAT

Peretemheru-unused-map2.png

A huge, unused map. This might've been the map where you could descend down from the inaccessible stairs in the middle of the blessed child trial, rather than following the guidance of the bronze children that would determine Rin Tsukihara's fate.

MAP102.DAT

Peretemheru-strange-monster-map.png

The map itself is the gas chamber where the tourists have to hold their breaths and run at the same time to get past the room without inhaling too much toxic gas, however, the map contains a mummy that is never present in said chamber. In the final build, Ayuto either pulls Mitsuru out of the room, or everybody forgets him and Mitsuru, unable to open the chamber doors dies of hypothermia. Ayuto is then forced to kill him during the pyramid escape with a head stomp. There is no mention of a monster.

Perhaps akin to Sae Otogi's judgement, you were supposed to fight this creature to save him?

MAP140.DAT

Peretemheru-unused-map.png

A map that's never shown in normal gameplay. This is the only map that contains text for an early version of Nei's trial.

Reanimated Drafts

MCP006.ECD

MCP008.ECD

Peretemheru-Saori-unused-draft-img.png

Sae and Saori Shinoda both have a draft of their deaths that is stored inside the MCP files. Most likely references to add in the horror details.

Unused Cutscene Images

Ayuto Asaki

MCP058.ECD

Peret-em-heru-ayuto-older-cg.png

This seems to be an older Ayuto image inside MCP058.ECD.

MCP092.ECD

Peretemheru-unused-group-cg.png

Ayuto, Nei, Kyosuke, and Yoko confronting an unknown villain.

Nei Ichikawa

MCP060.ECD

Peretemheru-Nei-Ichikawa-different-clothes.png

A CG of Nei's early design. It was changed because Makoto felt her expression was too dark.

MCP070.ECD

Peretemheru-Nei-Ichikawa-different-clothes-early.png

Another CG of her early design. Her clothes on the left lacks shading and details while on the right side, her hair is unfinished.

MCP091.ECD

Peretemheru-Nei-development-chart-unused.png

A chart of how much Nei has changed during the process of creating this game.

MCP080.ECD

Peretemheru-unused-memoryfragment.png

In a wooden cabin in the urban streets of Cairo, Ayuto and Nei were planning out their next strategy.

Kyosuke Hino

MCP087.ECD

Peretemheru-kyosukehino-unfinished-cg.png Peretemheru-kyosukehino-unfinished-cg2.png

Unfinished CG. Kyosuke Hino's face has a softer expression than in the final version.

Yoko Nogisaka

MCP047.ECD

Peretemheru-early-Yoko-Nogisaka-ending-cg.png

A different Yoko design not present in the game.

The man next to her was supposed to be a part of the group. He was described to be a destructive person with violent tendencies that easily gets riled up. Most likely, he was scrapped because then the game would have too many characters.

MCP061.ECD

Peretemheru-YokoNogisaka-different-clothes-early.png

An even earlier Yoko CG.

MCP067.ECD

Peretemheru-yokonogisaka-unfinisheddrawing.png

Unfinished CG.

Soji Mizumi

MCP095.ECD

Peretemheru-soji-mizumi-unusedcg-right.png

As with Sae, the image to the left is the only one present during all conversation options involving Soji, including the ending where he lives. The right side is never used.

Sae Otogi

MCP052.ECD

Peretemheru-different-colored-saeotogi-unused.png

There is Sae with orange clothing, for some strange reason.

MCP053.ECD

Peretemheru-Sae Otogi unused CG on the right.png

Only the left side is used whenever Ayuto is conversing with her, and in all the ending variants where Sae survives. Her shirt and bandana palette is corrected here.

Rin Tsukihara

MCP044.ECD

Peretemheru-rin-unused-cg.png

The right side is not used in any of the ending variants where Rin lives. Only the left image is shown whenever Ayuto is conversing with her and in the ending where she lives.

Mitsuru Koeiji

MCP084.ECD

Peretemheru-mitsurukoeiji-early2.png

An even earlier CG of Mitsuru back when he was a lolicon otaku. He was trialed for pursuing children like Rin. In the final version, he is judged for being lazy.

Peretemheru-Mitsuru-Koeiji-development-chart.png

A development chart of Mitsuru.

Saori Shinoda

MCP052.ECD

Peretemheru-saorishinoda-unused-cg.png

In the same frame as the orange shirted Sae, this would be the CG where Saori demands you to give back her Takashi in the ending. It's never shown in any variants where she lives.

Tetsuya Tsuchida

MCP043.ECD

Peretemheru-Tatsuya-unused-rightside.png

Tsuchida can never be recruited to Ayuto's team through "Recruit Teammate", as his name will always be crossed out, leaving the right side obsolete. When talking to him, he'll always show the sprite that's on the left.

MCP096.ECD

Peretemheru-tatsyua-unused-ending-cg.png

Ending CGs of the Professor exists which is rather interesting due to that in the final game, he dies to Pharaoh Khufu judging him for the murder of Koji no matter what choice you make for each individual character trials, making these two images unused as you can never save them in normal gameplay.

Koji Kuroe

MCP054.ECD

Peretemheru-unused-kojikuroe-endingcg.png

Ending CGs of Koji are also present in the game files, but they can never be triggered in a regular gameplay as he dies instantaneously in the temple. The background is also incorrect. His shirt and skin color are also slightly different. Here's what he looks like when attempting to pull him in the party.

MCP057.ECD

Peretemheru-Koji-Kuroe-unused-CG2.png

The left image was most likely to be used whenever Ayuto was hurt and needed healing. The right side is an older draft of Koji where he had shorter hair. Makoto later changed this to give him more individuality among the cast.

Scrapped Characters

Makoto created a lot of characters to be used in the game, but they were later dropped during development to avoid having too many characters.

Shinoda

MCP069.ECD

Peretemheru-shinodaassistant-removed-char.png

MCP103.ECD

Peret-em-heru-shinoda-removed-char2.png

Shinoda (not to be confused with Saori Shinoda, who was originally Saori Kawamoto) was supposed to be Soji's assistant.

Professor's Assistant

Peretemheru-unnamed-removed-character5.png

MCP088.ECD

Peretemheru-unnamed-removed-character6.png

MCP104.ECD

Peretemheru-Nei-reacting-strongly-unused.png

This unnamed character was originally Tsuchida's assistant. Since Makoto felt an indignant type of character was too strong for a woman, she was replaced with Koji.

Takashi

MCP094.ECD

Peretemheru-unused-noname-char3.png

Takashi, Saori's boyfriend, was originally going to be a part of the group, but he was later scrapped since Makoto only wanted one good-natured boy in the group.

Boyish Girl

MCP093.ECD

Peretemheru-unused-noname-character2.png

A tomboy that was supposed to be a part of the group, but was scrapped for being too similar to Nei.

Hidden Characters

Characters that have no names and were dropped during development yet remain hidden inside the game files.

MCP055.ECD

Peretemheru-unused-nonamed-character.png

A child character. Perhaps a previous version of Rin.

MCP073.ECD

Peretemheru-nonamed-removed-char4.png

CHR040.ECD

Peretemheru-early-sprites.png

A collection of character portraits for civilians, created in an RPG-making engine called Chimes Quest. Upon the release of RPG Tkool Dante 98, Makoto transferred the drafts of these characters over into Shuujin he no Peret-em-Heru.

Kyosuke's Memory Fragments

Memory fragments are a concept where a character has to overcome a traumatic experience that would have also had an accompanying flashback. Most likely, these would have been experienced through Kyosuke’s psychic powers. Makoto noted that creating at least one CG for every character in the game was too much of an ordeal and scrapped it.

Mitsuru Koeiji

MCP046.ECD

Peretemheru-MitsuruKoeiji unused-memory-fragment.png

MCP049.ECD

Peretemheru-Mitsuru Highschool Bullies-unusedcg1.png

Mitsuru, while being stuck in the gas chamber, was supposed to recall a scenario in high school where he was bullied harshly (possibly for his weight) by two classmates named Yabuta and Fukada in the school bathroom.

Yoko Nogisaka

MCP056.ECD

Nei-Ichikawa-memory-fragment-unused.png

Yoko's younger sister had drifted out into the open sea and Yoko nearly drowned rescuing her. It was originally planned in the game for Yoko to be faced with a similar situation where she must overcome her fear of drowning and rescue someone once more. A part of this backstory was still retained in the final version where Kyosuke mentions that Yoko cannot swim.
