Unused Enemy

From Debug Modes and Unused Stuff:

Alien Pac-Man?
Found using a Sprite Viewer on a ZSNES save state, this weird, alien-esque Pac-Man type thing can be seen amongst Mother Brain's graphics. Absolutely no idea what it was doing there, unless it was supposed to be a part of Mother Brain herself. Very creepy.

Hidden Intro Text Message

Some users found out there are some hidden text messages in the intro when the game starts. The text reads "PROJECT SAMUS FEATURED IN" and "© 1994 NINTENDO. Ver. 2.00"
Source #1 and Source #2
Is this confirmed? -TrueLies2011 (talk) 10:41, 21 August 2014 (EDT)

It shows up in this video.
I know I'm late to the party but I wanted to know if anyone was able to get the "Ver. 2.00" to display in game. The only reason I bring it up is because there is early game footage of a version number appearing on the title screen. --Cuber456 (talk)
I made a tilemap list in like 2008 - check it out, there's even more unused stuff near the title screen tile map entries.

"a different font never seen in regular gameplay. "

Isn't this the font used for the SPACE COLONY and PLANET ZEBES text in the cutscenes at the beginning of the game? - Andlabs (talk) 16:02, 23 September 2014 (EDT)

It is not, in fact those two tile sets have different colour resolutions --123baby (talk) 03:09, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

Slightly different UI & SFX in prerelease video

The video linked above also shows a slightly different status UI ('energy' being more compressed and including an arrow), map UI (plain letters rather than the stylized/coloured ones in the final, plus Crateria being labeled as 'Surface'), and SFX (taking damage seems to produce a beep, rather than the toot sound in the final game). Is this worth creating a 'pre-release' page for? --RavenWorks (talk) 23:18, 29 November 2017 (EST)

Also I just realised that Unseen64 covers a few other differences, and some from other sources too: https://www.unseen64.net/2008/07/04/super-metroid-snes-beta/ --RavenWorks (talk) 23:23, 29 November 2017 (EST)

Recreated Stoke

In case anyone happens to be interested, I went ahead and put together the full sprite 'set' for Stoke. https://gyazo.com/7cd9fe2eacab87d3bd1839a8dd3d7f25

I'm not sure of the rules for adding such things or if it would be allowed at all, so I'll leave this here for someone smarter than I am. Sarikuya (talk) 12:45, 5 June 2018 (EDT)

Inaccessible Wrecked Ship rooms while power is off

I have noticed that the Wrecked Ship rooms you can't access while it's off are also altered. The conveyor belts don't work, the electric sparks are obviously not present, the broken glass is, well, not broken, security robots are disabled and the spikes aren't animated and can't hurt the player. The only thing that isn't the same as the accessible rooms is the Covern (that clump of ghost heads) enemy not showing up.

Some Unused Stuff in Tourian

I have no clue why these two things in Tourian aren't mentioned despite being clearly visible in SMILE: 1. There's some blue platforms in the tileset similar to the ones seen in the original Tourian. These have new graphics and are even placable, yet were never used for some reason. 2. There's an option to set Tourian rooms to drain your health, like the ones in Norfair. In the final game, none of the rooms are set to have this option.

Feel free to update the article with these. I'm too lazy to. --Murphmario (talk) 16:47, 7 July 2019 (EDT)

Unused Samus Death Sound?

I was trying to rip the Hyper Beam sound for something of my own and I came across this strange sound... https://tcrf.net/images/7/75/Unusedsamussound.wav Perhaps this is the unused death sound that was cut for sounding too sexual? (Hey, if someone could get the audio preview working properly I'd appreciate it as I don't know how to do it.)
