TIM2 / TIM3 music

Contrary to what the article currently says, CD audio was introduced in TIM2, not TIM3. The four extra songs mentioned in the article are also played in TIM2 when the CD is missing, but are never selectable from the music menu; I don't remember which puzzles they play on when the CD audio isn't available, but I suspect they still play there in TIM3, considering it's very nearly exactly the same game... --Devin (talk) 21:56, 11 October 2015 (EDT)

Understood, I'll fix that first section if you haven't already. I've never heard any of the listed HMIs play on TIM3 in my experience, though. Seizure22 (talk) 22:09, 11 October 2015 (EDT)

Created parts

I don't know that this really counts as unused, but there are four parts in the game's files which are only ever generated by other parts during play, and which have descriptions that can't normally be seen. They are "Phazer pulse" [0x14], "explosion" [0x29], "rope end (phantom)" [0x31], and "Peg" [0x48]. A saved puzzle can be hacked to include these parts. The rope end will not show up at all, but the other three will appear placed and can be manipulated like any other part, though the only actions available are delete, lock, and help. Each has the help description "[CREATED PART]". The phazer pulse will burst immediately on running a puzzle, but otherwise functions normally (e.g. it will pop balloons). Similarly the explosion immediately explodes. Also, every frame it's moused over during puzzle editing, it plays an explosion sound effect. The Peg is the pin pulled from a match-on-a-stick; it just falls away, and as far as I know can only interact with an anti-gravity pad. If these parts are left unlocked they will show up in the parts bin, albeit with no image, which makes it nearly impossible to select them. The rope end has a description in Interfaces.tbv ("phantom part"), but I don't think this can be seen in-game.

There are 281 parts defined in Parts.tbv. Part 281 appears to be a blank part to terminate the parts list, though I'm not sure. Aside from that, the above four, and the four holiday bonus parts, unless I missed something, every other part is normally available in the puzzle-building mode. (About half are scenery.) This includes part 280, which sure seems to be an exact duplicate of an earlier part (a stone wall scenery piece).

This was tested in Even More Incredible Machines: Contraptions. I don't have earlier versions available - perhaps they have some more interesting leftovers. --GuyInSummers (talk) 19:04, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

Unseen part descriptions are definitely something that qualifies for being documented on TCRF; cool find! --Zyxyz (talk) 02:07, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
