Ultraman Power Fighter
Ultraman Power Fighter |

Developer: CyberPlanet Interactive[1][2] This game has unused graphics. |
The mid-2000s were arguably the peak of a legal dispute between Tsuburaya Productions (the creators of the series) and the Thailand-based Chaiyo Productions (who had distribution rights for the first six installments of the series in their country) over the complete copyright of the Ultraman series outside of Japan.
With this in mind, Ultraman Power Fighter was one of ten Chaiyo-licensed games created during that time, and is a puzzler in which you pile energy rocks together to combine (and later clear) them, in hopes to not top out.
NOTE: All of the file paths take in consideration the folder Data.
Unused Graphics
Title Screen
A_D_1.jpg, located in the folder All_Menu\BackGround\Main_Bg\Title, is a darkened, earlier graphic meant to be used in the game's title screen. Notably, Ultraman Taro and Alien Baltan are in slightly different positions. Its last modification date is December 30, 2005, 19:39:12.
Early How To Play Graphics
The folder All_Menu\BackGround\Main_Bg\howtoplay contains the graphic for the window seen in the How to Play sequence, but it also contains earlier variations of the graphics displayed within it. Notably, the design of the tiles is much more generic, and the order of the button indicators is different. The final variations of these graphics can be found in the folder All_Menu\Button\Howtoplay.

Early Gameplay Backgrounds
The folder All_Menu\BackGround\Main_Bg\Character\Charracterbg contains earlier versions of the backgrounds seen during gameplay, whose final counterparts can be found in ScenePlay\PlayGameBG. Several were completely modified, some had tweaks to make the horizontal edges line up, while one other (bg7.jpg) was not changed at all. Curiously, four of them (bg2.jpg, bg3.jpg, bg6.jpg, and bg10.jpg) are used in the high score menus, and as such, they're not listed here. In addition, the unused folder contains one background without a final equivalent.

Ultraman Taro Error
While Ultraman Taro received an updated sprite for jumping while facing left, found in All_Menu\Taro_renew\new\jump, it is never used in favor of an outdated one, found in UnitAnimate\Taroh\Left, which has the position of his Taro Bracelet on his right arm rather than on his left.

Unused Cursor Graphics
The folder All_Menu\Curser contains the graphics used for the gameplay cursor. Within it are two more unused graphics depicting different designs:
nr_overhand.gif + nr_overhand_a.gif
A similar graphic can be found unused in Finkles Adventure, though with different transparency.
Ultraman Monster Crisis / Galaxy Alert Leftovers
The folder CHARACTER contains attack effect graphics originating from Ultraman Monster Crisis and/or Ultraman Galaxy Alert, two other CyberPlanet-developed and Chaiyo-licensed Ultraman titles, most of them associated with the game's enemies. These graphics are all in .tga format, which is not used by this game. In addition to this, there is a package labeled character.rar, but its contents are identical.

Mockup Images
The folders OnePlayer and TwoPlayer within the folder ScenePlay, which contain the gameplay graphics for the single player and two player modes, respectively, also contain mockup screenshots, labeled as display.jpg, which show an assembled layout.
Folder: OnePlayer - Date: Feb 23, 2006 22:45:44
Folder: TwoPlayer - Date: Feb 23, 2006 22:46:14
Development Screenshot
The root of the data contents has a screenshot of the game labeled as bg.bmp, which shows the game running on windowed mode on a Windows XP environment. It is dated March 6, 2006, 15:00:26.
Unused Music
The folder Musics, whose contents are never parsed by the executable at all (as all of the used audio files are in a different folder, labeled Sound), contains two files. menu 16 bit.wav is a duplicate of the main menu track, MS_Menu.wav, while the similarly-named Menu(16 bit).wav consists of the main menu music from The Adventure of Squirrel Hero, another CyberPlanet-developed game.
Unused Sounds
The Sound folder itself also contains several unused sounds:
explosion02.wav is an unparsed explosion sound.
mouseon.wav is a different sound for when the mouse hovers over a button. Curiously, the game uses an earlier sound, M_MouseOver.wav, which is directly taken from The Adventure of Squirrel Hero.
Unused mouseon.wav Date: Dec 1, 2005 13:18:48 |
Used M_MouseOver.wav Date: Sep 21, 2005 13:54:46 |
---|---|
mousepress.wav is a different sound for when the mouse presses a button. Like with mouseon.wav, the game uses an earlier sound M_MouseDown.wav, which is directly taken from The Adventure of Squirrel Hero.
Unused mousepress.wav Date: Nov 1, 2005 14:44:18 |
Used M_MouseDown.wav Date: Sep 21, 2005 13:53:32 |
---|---|
Additionally, bomb.wav and changeStage.wav are also unreferenced, but they are duplicates of M_Effect1.wav and M_Effect2.wav, respectively.
Unused Text
Found at offset 0xB4C54 of the game's executable are leftover text strings from Deep Hunter, a previous game by CyberPlanet Interactive:
Deep hunter is a shooting game in the deep ocean. There are three major sea creatures: octopus, green jellyfish and red jellyfish. Octopus earns 5 points and 10 Oxygen points. Green jellyfish earns 10 points. Red jellyfish earns 20 points. There is chance to earn Bonus point too. Press the UP and DOWN arrow key to control the diver's movement. When ready to shoot, press the centre button. Earn as many points as you can within the time limit. Deep Hunter Version 1.0 Copyright 2003 CyberPlanet Interactive. All rights reserved.
