Backgrounds

gcksnowmt

File location: DATA/files/g3d/step/map/gcksnowmt/Bg.brres.cmp

This background, named in its folder as gcksnowmt is the only background in this game that goes completely unused! Said background is actually a leftover stage model from the cancelled Kirby for Nintendo GameCube, where it can be seen in a prerelease screenshot. The only noticeable difference between its appearance there and the model leftover as a background in the final game is the lighting. There is also no corresponding tileset for it in its folder. You can load it in-game by replacing the Bg.brres.cmp file of a map folder, snow for demonstration.

Interestingly, even though this is a snow mountain background, there are beach-related textures that can be found in the files for this background, which look different compared to the textures from the background used for the beach areas in-game, which is internally named gckbeach, although some of the textures closely match the ones used for the beach stage shown in footage of said cancelled game.

Unused in the model Used in the model

Said background also has another version for its cloud texture that is unused in the actual model, although this time, it's actually snow mountain-related rather than yet another beach-related texture. The name of the texture unused in the model is Gr4x2x7_blue_cloud and is opaque while the one used in the model is Clouds_bg01_G and has transparency.

Unused Tiles

"room" tilesets

room

File locatiom: DATA/files/g3d/step/map/room/Parts.brres.cmp

Inside the files for the game, there are 2 unused tilesets named "room" and "room2" . This tileset, named "room" was most likely used for testing as most of it and room2 appear to be from a base tileset as evidenced by the files of several tilesets from this game and Kirby's Dream Collection having some textures used in both of them, as well as parts, and even textures that correspond to said base tiles that are not present in either room and room2.

The footage below not only shows off the "room" tileset, but it also shows the "empty" background that gets used in-game, but is completely obscured due to being used in the interior of the Lor Starcutter.

room2

File location: DATA/files/g3d/step/map/room2/Parts.brres.cmp

This tileset is almost identitcal to "room", with the only difference being that room2 has more textures for its MLand, which are just differently colored versions of some of the ones used for the BLand of it and room, as well as the MLand for room; room2 has a slightly different looking MLand compared to to one for room. Just like "room", this tileset also most likely was used for testing.

Effects

IceBlizzard

File path: DATA/files/g3d/step/effect/lowper/IceBlizzard.brres.cmp

The Ice Sphere Doomer has an unused projectile named IceBlizzard. There are also 3 animations for it, 2 of which, named Start and End which both don't seem to do anything and also both have 6 frames. The third one, named Main on the other hand does do something; a shining animation. The textures are used, but the model itself isn't.

Traitor Magolor's Bubble

File path: DATA/files/g3d/step/effect/mahoroabattle1/Bubble.brres.cmp

Traitor Magolor has an unused model just named "Bubble" that presumably was meant as an unused version for the bubbles for Traitor Magolor's Deadly Needles, which in the final game are 2D effects rather than models. There are 3 animations for it, all of which are deflating and inflating but at different sizes.

Other

Unused Full Kirby Model

Kirby has an unused mesh for a larger version of his state for when he has something inside his mouth, which appears to been for when he has 3 or more objects inhaled at once. This is evidenced by the bones for the mesh naming it as Big3. The mesh however, is nowhere to be found in the hidden Kirby model for the Mike ability, although the bones for it still remain in said model.
