DOA 2 Hardcore is a PS2 port of Dead or Alive 2 with new characters and stages, as well as a myriad of tweaks and alterations to the fighting system. This was the last game in the series to appear on a Sony platform until the release of Dead or Alive 5 12 years later.

Regional Differences

The Japanese version, which was released after the US one, made a number of additional changes and tweaks - a Turbo Speed option was added, a few more costumes and cutscenes were implemented, and an extra credits scene was added after beating Story Mode with all characters, thanking a number of Japanese gamers and websites.
