Phineas and Ferb is a 3D platformer game based off of four episodes (Rollercoaster, S'Winter, It's a Mud, Mud, Mud, Mud World, and, very loosely, Leave the Busting to Us) from the Disney cartoon of the same name. There's also several references to other episodes and a much better attempt at translating Phineas into 3D than you'd expect. Unlike its sequel, however, this game HEAVILY makes use of the Touch Screen.

Development Text

txt_data.csv

Present in the squript folder in the ROM is a spreadsheet containing every string, their internal name, notes, and the original Japanese script for the game. It was last revised September 24, 2008.

File: PhineasandFerb Txt data.csv.7z (Compressed: 36k Uncompressed: 152k) (info)

This was likely used as a reference file for localisations, and it starts with the following developer comments.

"DS Phineas & Ferb In-Game Text
09-24-08"
ALL BLUE CELLS INDICATE TEXT THAT IS EMBEDDED IN THE GAME'S ARTWORK.
"Ideally, all art text size should be roughly the same as the English text. Of course, this is not always possible. If the text is longer, some adjustments can be made to accomadate the extra characters. However, if the length drastically exceeds the original english, it may be impossible to fit. "

A much less interesting (yet still notable) file in the same folder that lists a few variable names for items.

DGamer

The ROM contains a folder DGamer which has all the data for DGamer (Disney Gamer), the online game server for Disney Nintendo DS titles. The DGamer functionality was only available in the American version of the game, and went offline March 15, 2013. In it is a folder GameData which has the file DGamer.xml that contains the configuration data for achievements and rewards that can be achieved during gameplay. It also has some development text regarding cancelled ‘stats’, which acted as records.

<!-- The following two stats were removed from DGamer to get the total stats down to 12 -->
<!-- <stat name="Puzzle Average %" description="" gameid="9" id="180609" genre="act" visible="false"/> -->
<!-- <stat name="Hidden Perrys Found" description="" gameid="13" id="180610" genre="act" visible="false"/> -->

Unused Graphics

Early Screens

Present in the title folder in the ROM are a pair of backgrounds for a mode selection screen, a nondescriptive background annotated with MS11_080929, and two unused backgrounds that were likely intended to be used after the final boss.

Tak Leftovers

Like other Altron developed games, there are some leftover graphics from Tak: The Great Juju Challenge. These can be found in the folder sNaga_e.
