Unused Location Name

Mystery Zone

Like in the Generation IV games, this placeholder name can be found among other location names. This time, however, it's not assigned to any map header at all.

The lists of met locations include some that are never used because they were meant to be used for event Pokémon distributions that never happened. Most of them were likely included for future proofing, however, some entries stand out. Pokémon DW refers to the Dream World, a now-inaccessible service. Since all Pokémon obtained through Global Link or the Dream World are always encountered in the Entree Forest, this met location is rather redundant. Furthermore, Pokémon Ranger and Ranger Union imply that the games were originally planned to be compatible with a Pokémon Ranger game in some way.

JP (kanji):

チェレン『ポケモンの 体力…… HPを 減らすことなく 勝利するのは すごいよ だけど ポケモンの わざポイント……PPが 減っているからね

EN:

It's amazing that you won without your Pokémon's losing any energy, which is called HP.
But you used some of the moves' Power Points, or PP, though.

ES:

Cheren: Ganar un combate Pokémon sin que bajen los PS de tu Pokémon, es decir, su salud, es impresionante.
Aunque los PP son otra historia...¡Siempre disminuyen!

Cheren would say this if the player managed to beat their first battle against Bianca without losing any HP. Since this is virtually impossible, this dialog goes virtually unused.

You can't dismount your Bike here.

Battle Castle\xfffeMulti

Battle Arcade\xfffeSingle

Battle Arcade\xfffeDouble

Battle Arcade\xfffeMulti

Possible leftovers from Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

dummy message

Guess what this is.

\xf000Ă\x0001\x0000 restored all its\xfffemoves' PP!

The wild \xf000Ă\x0001\x0000 restored all its\xfffemoves' PP!

The foe's \xf000Ă\x0001\x0000 restored all its\xfffemoves' PP!

Found within the files for the Entralink is text for a Pokémon fully restoring all its PP for all moves at once...which can't actually happen in battle.

Zen Mode triggered!

Zen Mode ended!

Darmanitan's Zen Mode ability does not use a unique message in-game, rendering these strings useless.

Player battled to a draw against\xfffe\xf000Ď\x0001\x0000 \xf000Ā\x0001\x0001!

Player battled to a draw against\xfffe\xf000Ā\x0001\x0000!

Player battled to a draw against\xfffe\xf000Ā\x0001\x0000 and \xf000Ā\x0001\x0001!

Draws don't happen anymore. Curse you, tiebreakers!

Shoot!\xfffeIt was so close, too!

In prior games, this message would appear if a wild Pokémon escaped from its Poké Ball after it shook three times. In Black and White, the message "Aargh! Almost had it!" appears instead; that message is used for two-shake escapes in all other games since Gold and Silver. There are no two-shake escapes in Generation V.

Fog crept up as thick as soup!

The fog lifted.

Fog doesn't do anything in battle and only serves as an aesthetic effect in the overworld. This message managed to survive into the next installments as well.

さくじょします

99ついかします

This is found with the GTS text. They translate to "Delete" and "Increase by 99", respectively.

The mission to save yourself\xfffehas started.

You will return\xf000븀\x0000\xfffeto your own world.\xf000븁\x0000

Entralink stuff again, this time about saving yourself. No comment.

デバッグROM\xfffeDP Y\xfffePT X\xfffeGS A

DEBUG ROM DP Y PT X GS A

Debug ROM stuff. Judging from the initials, DP, PT, and GS may stand for Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, respectively.

Placeholder emoticons. Oddly, the Japanese text for Hello ("こんにちは") is in Katakana, which is commonly used to transcribe foreign words into Japanese. The Korean text also means "Hello". Judging by other languages being present, other languages were also tested with this placeholder set.
