This page details one or more prototype versions of Densetsu no Stafy 2.

SOMETIMES I SEE A TEXT BOX AND I JUST CAN'T HELP MYSSDFGFFDHFGDJGGFSHGDFH
This page sucks.
If you could make it suck less, that would be awesome.

A prototype of the iQue version of Densetsu no Stafy 2 dated June 6, 2006, which was likely cancelled due to the Chinese government's ban on video games at the time. It was dumped by togemet2 and released by Forest of Illusion on March 25, 2019. See also the Prerelease page.

Curiously, 0xBC (the version number) is marked as 01, so this may be a v1.1 revision of the prototype.

Build Date

Two small compile strings can be found at offset 0x14DEB0:

Japan iQue Proto
2003/08/04 20:24:28
2006/06/06 10:57

Unlike the final Japanese version, it's unknown if there is an additional debug function to print it in-game.

Differences

iQue Screens

Booting up the game loads a screen with details about the release such as an ISBN number, followed by the iQue logo. This is shared with other dumped Game Boy Advance iQue ROMs.

Title Screen

The game's title was changed to Sitafei De Chuanshuo 2 (斯塔非的传说2), which is also the case in the staff credits, and "按START键" (Press Start) has replaced the Japanese "スタートボタン" prompt. The copyright info is absent: no iQue version is present in the ROM, and the Japanese version's string is missing entirely.

Unlike the final Japanese Densetsu no Stafy, English characters are in the main non-debug Densetsu no Stafy 2 font as well, but unused.

Stuff

Hmmm...
To do:
Add comparison images if necessary

Some changes were made to the Stuff (dress up feature, also known as Goods/Kisekae). This is mainly for converting Japanese text (as graphics) into Chinese, or one case of removing the Japanese text entirely (スタ; star) from the school swimsuit clothes.

Lovely's Shop Graphics

In the first Stage, Starfy meets Lovely again outside of her shop. The graphics of the shop were changed to alter the text from ラブリーのおみせ (Lovely's Shop) to 小甜甜的商店 (Xiǎotiántián's Shop). The font is pink like the Japanese version.

Balloon Goal Graphics

While riding the Balloon, there is a goal flag (normally ゴール). As above, the graphics were translated into Chinese.

Bug Fixes

The Shocked Starfy glitch was fixed.
