Backgrounds?

On the final's backgrounds, the game itself has them saved as .jpg files. Since this wiki is strictly against .jpg files, though, I am asking if it is at all possible I should change them to .png with a re-save. Camwoodstock (talk) 14:03, 1 January 2014 (EST)

You should upload them as is, with a mention in the summary that the backgrounds were originally in the .jpg format. Rightman (talk) 14:06, 1 January 2014 (EST)
The main reason jpgs are frowned upon is because, unless specifically stated otherwise, they add compression artifacts to the image; it's what jpgs are meant to do. But this leaves us with sub-optimal quality, in exchange for space that we do not need to rationalize. Anyway, it's on the file upload rules: use .png anywhere you can, but if the original is a .jpg, use that. {EspyoT} 08:13, 2 January 2014 (EST)
