According to Earthbound Central, there's text in the ROM for two debug menus yet to be discovered. They don't give many details, I guess you'd have to ask on their forums. --Fry's Dead Dog (I will wait for you) 16:23, 7 February 2012 (EST)
- I frequent the forums, and I don't think I've seen discussion about it. Besides, Mato himself said there is a debug menu he doesn't know about. If the man (and his team) who disemboweled the game and completely remade several parts of it doesn't know about its existence, I doubt someone will casually talk about finding it in the forums. Finding these menus is going to take a lot of work, and the users at the community aren't quite up to that level, without meaning to offend. {EspyoT} 17:53, 7 February 2012 (EST)
- Good point. Should we list the menu text as unused text, then? --Fry's Dead Dog (I will wait for you) 01:47, 9 February 2012 (EST)
Hey,uh,when I was using the debug menu for a long time,it started making this beeping noise that sounded like Fassads phone thingy and it wouldn't stop.Any ideas why it happens? User:espman232
Unused Movie
[English]
I found what I believe to be unused movies. They can be viewed here. (A video of the same name is currently uploaded to Nico Nico Douga.) More details are written on the Japanese page here.
Codes used to access the movie (VBA codes):
1. 0200B578:00F5 2. 0200B578:00F6 3. 0200B578:00F7 4. 0200B578:00E5
Once movies 1, 2, and 3 finish, the final battle with the Masked Man begins, so I believe that they may have been planned to be flashback scenes between Lucas and Claus. I'm also of the opinion that the static that occurs during the movie could be indicative of Claus's mental state. I think they may have planned to use 4 to show Fassad's Interpreter leaving after the last Fassad battle.

Changing the same address to 5555 (Simple, I know) leads to a garbled mess of a map that has collision and leads to two places that crash the game. What is interesting is the two other warps on the screen lead to the inside of the Church and the top of the most south-western Tazmily. I have a video if wanted.Schofie9x-alt 20:12, 28 March 2012 (EDT)
Unused text
[English(Machine translation)] To MOTHER3 There are many unused TEXT. while Part may be confirmed. Text that is posted on the site below. (All Japanese) http://book.geocities.jp/onnelist/botu.html

Some things
In the "unused texts" section (which should be "unused text", but I digress), the bit that includes stuff like Kumatora talking about Lucas' mom, I could swear I read that in-game. Is my memory playing tricks on me or not? The text in bold about the frog-invated-by-translators is a bit too obvious. The translators added a secret message, obviously not found in the English version. I haven't seen it personally, but I do know that if you complete the game with your Battle Memory complete (not sure if back sprites count), the frog will tell you this in the end of the game. As for the mirror comments, can't you kill off your party so that only Kumatora/Boney remain, and have them check the mirror? Finally, for the battle backgrounds, there are a few more, like several variations of the smug Pigmask kid thing. I'll probably record a video showcasing them tomorrow. {EspyoT} 21:31, 22 July 2012 (EDT)
- Ok, here you go: 1/ In Mato's text dump they are marked as unused, and i replayed the final Chapter twice just in case. 2/Never knew about the Battle Memory Completion secret message 3/You can't change the first slot character, unless you use the Debug Room. Even if you manage to have him KOed in battle, he will stay alive but with 1HP in the Overworld. And Kuma and Boney are not the lead character at any point in the game. You can have Salsa as the lead character and have him see a mirror ("What was a smile like, again?") but it is often an overlooked fact. 4/Besides the Pigmask kid, there are a few geometrical figure BG not associated with any enemy. 5/There are some odd sprites, like a HAPPY END", some burned NPCs, The swimming girl that appears when Fuel enters a hotspring, Lucas grabbed from the head and thust by a machine (not pictured) against a wall, a refrigerator with thrown state animations, Hinawa dying, The Drago/The masked Man performing the Wess Dance, Lucas lowering his pants (Fortunately removed), and more... Removed Music Tracks
Miles_of_SmashWiki removed two tracks from the article, Mother 3 Samba de Cambo.ogg and Mother 3 Ultimate Chimera battle.ogg, with no explanation aside from "removed some inaccurate/speculatory lines, corrected a few errors". Are these actually used in the game, or did they just get deleted along with the speculatory lines (mistakenly or otherwise)? --BMF54123 01:15, 24 July 2012 (EDT)
- The Samba de Combo one seemed to be someone overlooking the fact that a cut-off version of that song is used in-game in Chapter 8; however, the full version is what appears in the Sound Player. As for the purported Ultimate Chimera battle theme, it sounds speculatory and without the actual audio file it's unclear what is even being referred to. Miles of SmashWiki 04:05, 24 July 2012 (EDT)

Page split
The page is getting long, we should split the unused memo and text sections onto their own pages. I'd do it myself but I'm a novice at MediaWiki so the chances of something going wrong are approximately 100%. Hukka 04:17, 30 July 2012 (EDT)
Miscellaneous
[English]1. This is just a small detail, but the first character of "Other Graphics" is 仮, which means "temporary". "
2. Are you interested in characters' dummy sprites? (For example, the ones you can see in character bank 0 at 0000.)
3. Could item ID 0xBA be an unused item?
[japanese]1.

About the unused bear enemy
The bear enemy from that video is an actual enemy stored in slot 0. However in the game when you try to battle it on a unmodified rom the battle is instantly won/the enemy never shows up. I hope i cleared up any confusion over this enemy. --Gible v (talk) 15:51, 7 February 2015 (EST)
Should we use the new music rips?
Since high quality versions of the music can now be acquired without the fuzzy background effect caused by the GBA's audio hardware, should we update the unused music section to use the new rips? --Combine11 (talk) 15:49, 19 July 2015 (EDT)
- I don't see why not! IMO, using the SAPPY (non-bitcrushed) rips for music seems like the better choice for audio comparison(s) since it's using raw sample data & sequences from the game... just not crushed down through the GBA hardware. Anyone else wanna weigh in? --Dtr138 (talk) 17:24, 19 July 2015 (EDT)
- I believe we've had this discussion elsewhere, possibly on another GBA game's talk page. One of the goals of this wiki is to, whenever possible, present content exactly as it would have appeared in the game itself, which means not increasing resolution, or applying "enhancement" filters, or any other luxuries that modern hardware affords us. The music was designed to be rendered by the GBA sound hardware, and artificially rendering it at a much higher sampling rate with filtering applied is akin to rendering PlayStation screenshots at 1080p with texture filtering, which we also don't allow here (as beautiful as the result can sometimes be). There are also some known problems with the MIDI rips the tool produces, which can cause certain effects to be lost or notes to play at the wrong frequency.
- It is interesting that the game contains fairly high-quality samples, given the limitations of the GBA hardware, but there may be a technical reason behind that (many Genesis games also contain extremely high-quality samples). --BMF54123 (talk) 19:53, 19 July 2015 (EDT)
Something that seems more like a talk page message...
Moved from the main page:
Actually, there was an error during the english fan translation of these magypsies. One of Phrygia's debug warp lines was removed by accident, so now the warps after ←Saturn Valley→ will warp the player to the wrong location. This is also why Phrygia's text stops and doesn't scroll anymore after ←Ceru. Beach→. The missing warp should be named something like "Saturn Wall", making the menu look like this and fixing everything.
•Go how far into Saturn Valley? ←END SELECTION→ ←Saturn Bean→ ←Saturn Valley→ ←Saturn Wall→ ←Phrygia→--~~~~ ←Volcano→ ←Tunnel Destr.→ ←Birdcage→ ←Ceru. Beach→
This was fixed in Italian's Version 1.1 of the patch by Lorenzooone.

Oh, okay. I already told Tomato how to fix it, so it's likely that it will be fixed in a future 1.3 version, if it ever comes out. --Lorenzooone (talk) 04:22, 19 September 2016 (EDT)
Earthbound 64 new footage.
A Earthbound 64 footage from Space World 1996 was recently posted online. Footage I think is time to create a prerelease page for Earthbound 64. --Trip Away (talk) 16:44, 4 June 2019 (EDT)

Anybody interested in helping finish this article?
As a new user I feel I lack the expertise to finish the page myself, but there seems to be a bunch of relatively simple bits of unused content that those with moderate experience in ripping game sprites and assets could help find. A good starting place are the unused graphics documented here; while many are already included, at least the following have yet to be added: the Porkybot portrait, the Pigmask boutique display, the gate sprite, "Monster Check," the pedestal, and the multicolored three-word Hiragana string.
I know from browsing the starman.net threads linked at the top of the TCRF article that there are a bunch of character sprites that're left undocumented, including a strange man with what appears to be a pink mohawk. There also seems to be sprites of Lucas being electrocuted while in water, which should be easy enough to find if all of Lucas' sprites are clumped together. The Masked Man has normal talking animations as well, which could fit with his already-documented unused animations.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention an unused animation of Lucas being thrown by something, which I've never seen mentioned anywhere outside of this one video from a decade ago. While this one may be a bit harder to isolate and rip, I think it'll be all the more rewarding to preserve a high-quality recording for fans to analyze/speculate over.
If folks could help pitch in by ripping the sprites and animations, I can help format the article and write descriptions for the new entries. C'mon, everybody, let's finish this before Mother 3 turns 15!
