Level Select
Um, given the fact that the level select is part of the usual debugging stuff available in id Tech 3 engine games... should this section be listed? I recall an admin telling me not to do so, but that was a very long time ago. // Foxhack 13:25, 24 January 2015 (EST)
- I don't know anything about engines, but the FAQ specifically said that Level Selects and sound tests are the two non-debug cheats that wanted. Feral (talk) 23:59, 27 January 2015 (EST) 23:57, 27 January 2015 (EST) (That fix it?)
- We normally allow level select cheats, but I'm a bit wary of including this one since unlike most, the id Tech / Source / etc. map change commands aren't really supposed to be a secret (arguably their original purpose was for use in setting up multiplayer games; being able to use it to cheat in single player is effectively a bonus resulting from the way the engine works). For that reason, we don't currently cover the same command in Quake, Half-Life, etc. (nor related things like the -warp command line argument in id Tech 1 games, for example).
- Also to Feral, please sign your posts with ~~~~ instead of typing a signature manually, so the date and time of your posts can be included too. --Devin (talk) 15:12, 24 January 2015 (EST)
Images
Also need to note that the game has something that blocks any attempts at screen shots, instead copying my desktop behind the program. It DOES have a built in capture feature, but none of my image editing programs can open the .TGA files it creates. // Feral
- You can use GIMP and then export it to a .PNG format image. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 15:30, 24 January 2015 (EST)
"Unused" areas
...are actually little rooms where script-related entities go, as well as models for precaching purposes. They are not intended to be explored nor are they relics of early maps. This section could be removed as well. -HsienKo (talk) 09:08, 3 August 2015 (EDT)
- Oh, so THAT is what I found. I know the white room with the models near Astrometrics is just the store room for the hologram models. The other room I found on the Hazard Ops deck is totally different. It is located next to the Hazard Ops Lounge, and contains no visible floors, walls, or ceilings, instead using the "Space" texture seen in the areas outside the Mess Hall and Main Bridge windows. The room contains only a few pallets and canisters like the ones seen in the cargo bays, only these ones are untextured, appearing completely black. -Feral (talk) 00:42, 1 March 2021 (EDT)
