The third Wonder Boy arcade game, the series shifts genres once again with Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair, this time becoming a forced-scrolling platforming/shoot-'em-up hybrid. Notable for being the only game in the series to allow up to two players simultaneously and the first to feature a girl protagonist.

Debug Mode

Turning on dip switch 2-7 activates a Test Mode, where you're invincible. Enemies won't hurt, but your character may be stunned. The life meter also means nothing when it runs out, although bottomless pits will still kill you.

A level select option will also appear upon starting a new game.
