Development:Rayman 2: The Great Escape
This page details development materials of Rayman 2: The Great Escape.
This page or section details content from the Rayman DS Leak. Check the Rayman DS Leak category for more pages also sourced from this material. |
To do: Everything notable from the source code leak. EVERYTHING. And with filepaths. |
In February 2022, a leaked copy of the source code of Rayman 2's Nintendo DS port was released on the internet. Notably, it also contained files that went completely unused during development of the original Rayman 2, alongside tools made for OpenSpace engine games.
Some assets relating to the Nintendo 64 version of Disney's Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers were also discovered among the source code, which can be seen here.

Electoon
The Electoon from Rayman 1. Its body texture is the same as the Lum's body texture, which likely overwrote its original texture during development. All that's left of the Electoon in the final version are its textures.

Unused Music
An ominous track by the name of wat.flac. This seems to be a variant of the song that plays when Rayman follows Carmen, but with additional percussion samples.
Early Instrument Bank
To do: Upload the instruments |
An early version of the soundfont file containing the instruments of the midi rendition for the N64 version can be found in SF2 format.
It originally had many more instruments, including ones not found in either the original HQ version or the N64 version. They probably had to be scrapped due to lack of storage space.
Some of these sound samples were later used for the soundtrack for Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers' PC/Dreamcast/N64 version, which features music by the same composer responsible for Rayman 2's N64 midi rendition.

Same image as above but with a green filter.

An in-game screenshot. It was used as a loading screen in a late demo version.

A marketing ad photo for the footwear brand Etnies. Probably used for advertising, or a random photo used for testing purposes.
