A prototype of Rugrats: Scavenger Hunt was dumped by Baker64 and released by Forest of Illusion on July 16, 2022. Dated April 2, 1999, it predates the final US release by at least two months.

General Differences
- A majority of the opening splash screens display the build date.

- The Nickelodeon splash screen contains legal info, notably including a placeholder "[year]" instead of an actual year (such as, say, 1999).

- The title screen is the show's logo instead of the final game's unique illustration.
- There is no music during the opening cutscene.
- The music on the main menu is what later became the opening cutscene music.

- There is a Load option on the main menu. Selecting it crashes the game.
- The opening cutscene to Pirate Treasure Hunt is very unfinished, with no voice acting and missing animations.
