Proto:Sonic Heroes/Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Bonus Disc/Unused Content
This is a sub-page of Proto:Sonic Heroes/Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Bonus Disc.
This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |

Digging deeper in the files and using hacks reveal quite a lot of unseen content that don't get used in this build.

Although it looks similar, there is a red square line that was removed in the final. This and the banner's description shown below aren't normally accessible outside of using Dolphin (when the demo is separately launched), considering that the player goes right straight to the game.
10.8 File Select
The early file select assets from the 10.8 prototype are present in this build.

Present in the mission folder includes the other Languages for the normal mission of Team Sonic's Seaside Hill and Team Dark's Bullet Station respectively. Since the Language setting can't be accessed in this build, these go unused. Like the previous GameCube prototype, the Korean text is unselectable in the final GameCube version, although weirdly enough, the French text for both stages and the German text for Team Dark's Bullet Station are not at all present in this build.
Unused Icons
Path: textures/obj_common.txd/o_fpow
Interestingly, while the Super Formation Power item was removed in this build, the unused Formation Power icon is still present.
Path: textures/obj_common.txd/o_lvup
An unused level up icon.
Path: textures/obj_common.txd/o_muteki
The invincibility item that would be used if it was collected, except no levels contain them, so it goes unused. The music for this item is also completely absent from the disc.
Unused Audio
Some voice clips go completely unused in this demo due to that level not being accessible for either team. Team Sonic can't access Bullet Station, and Team Dark can't access Seaside Hill. In addition, Ocean Palace, Rail Canyon, the select screen from the final, and the 2-player mode are completely inaccessible for both teams in this build. As such, nearly all of Omega's voice clips as shown in his page are not used. However, using the "Klagen Lock" glitch in Bullet Station will trigger one of Knuckles' voice clips. This glitch was fixed in the final. If the player forces the game to have both teams in the opposite levels, it is possible to hear some of these lines in-game by using these code below.

Grand Metropolis
Path: SH_VOICETGS_E.afs/cyt01_h01_kn.adx
Present on the disc is Knuckles' second hint voice clip for Grand Metropolis, a leftover from the Japanese version. Not only is that level not at all playable for either teams, but the English voice tracks relating to it are also completely absent from the disc. How this even got here is anyone's guess.
Unused Area
Extended Bullet Station
(from 0:50 to 3:27)
Although Bullet Station is accessible in this demo, an area before the second giant cannon for Team Dark can't normally be reached, as the level ends a lot sooner than how the final version does. Due to this, the infinite flight gauge cheat for getting over the inaccessible area is required. It's rather unfinished, as very few objects are present.
Using this code will enable the infinite flight gauge cheat, allowing the player to reach to the otherwise-unused area:

If the demo is launched separately, viewing the game's info on Dolphin reveals that the banner's description had a different, yet with some notable Engrish grammar (which wouldn't be the first time), written text.

FILE IS CREATED
The files TextEnglish.rel, TextFrench.rel, TextGerman.rel, and TextSpanish.rel all contain an unused text that's used for whenever a save file is created, which is a leftover from the 9.28 and 10.8 prototypes.
