Is this used

Does anyone know if this is used in the final game anywhere? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Yn2gkr_NwQ - M Moogle 23:31, 21 July 2010 (EDT)

No, not at all. It seems to simply be something put together for the demo, though.--Afti 00:26, 23 July 2010 (EDT)

Kraid

Is Kraid actually on the game disc (coding, textures, *anything*), or is the entry here nothing more than speculation based on early screenshots? If it's the latter, I'm going to remove it from the article. -YK YK-sig.png 20:20, 10 October 2010 (EDT)

I don't remember reading anything about it being in the game's code. The info about Kraid comes from a developer after the game was released. Teflon 21:20, 10 October 2010 (EDT)
Kraid is not on the disc, and is not even referenced in the code; There is no evidence that he ever existed except for the pre-renders. Antidote 03:20, 27 January 2014 (EDT)

Version Differences

There's a shit-ton of version differences up at Metroid 2002, but it's going to be work porting them over... the text descriptions are often too undetailed, and the videos are all in Quicktime (the site owner has an Apple fetish, although to be fair I don't think Youtube was really up and rolling when all this was being made). There's also the fact that they're all segregated on different pages and listed alphabetically rather than any sane order. This page is where to start, as it details what versions exist; basically, original NA, a "v1.1" with exactly one change, Japanese with a few changes, Europe with lots of weird changes, and then the Player's Choice "v1.2" with very little of the European changes but a lot of sequence break stoppers.

On top of that one of the version changes is also unused music, so to speak; Flaghraa's theme loops too early in all three American versions. (Come to think of it, that means Metroid Prime Trilogy's version is yet another version, because it loops properly there even in the US release.) Anyway, I may or may not work on it on the weekend, depending on how much free time I end up having... this isn't something I can do at work. ;p --Yoshi348 15:15, 7 January 2011 (EST)

I'll poke through it and see if I can't at least add a few things. I wouldn't really consider MPT a separate version aside from the controls, but if minutiae is important, it can certainly be added. And yes, M2002 is a bitch to get around. I can possibly upload anything he has in Quicktime format to Youtube if need be. Vekter 03:29, 29 June 2013 (EDT)
If you count the Wii releases, I believe I read on the Metroid Database forums a while back that they're really the Japanese or North American GameCube version with a bunch of the more obvious PAL changes "patched" in, plus some minor differences of their own. LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:18, 27 January 2014 (EST)
Actually, the Flaahgra case isn't what people think, it's not that it's looping too early, that's the WHOLE song, it was updated with a longer version in newer releases Antidote (talk) 05:32, 20 May 2016 (EDT)

A lot of development content

[1] No idea if some of these things are still in either disk (final or proto). Still going to share the link here. {EspyoT} 13:07, 25 April 2012 (EDT)

Nothing in there looks too familiar. I have a disc lying around, so if I get time I'll try to dissect it and see if I can find any of those. Vekter 03:36, 29 June 2013 (EDT)

Some m2k2 threads

[2] Data about room layers, containing unused layers; Miles says some of them are interesting, but he never recorded them. [3] The Samus speech is fake? I cannot for the life of me understand what the conclusion on this thread is. [4] Unused sounds and region-specific sounds, particularly interesting is the unfiltered "Intense heat readings detected behind this door." line. I also cannot understand if these are fake or what. [5] An unused suit? {EspyoT} 18:50, 30 August 2013 (EDT)

Wave, Ice, or Power Troopers on Orpheon

You can tell alot from the files in a pak, and apparently Retro was thinking about adding any one of them (they use the same model) in the first level (Metroid1.pak)! http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21757902/modelripping/wave_pirates_on_orpheon.png they're also considerably larger than Samus Antidote 11:22, 03 February 2014 (PST)

This is an old note and Antidote knows better by now, but for anyone else unaware, this doesn't really mean anything; the beam troopers are just in the same character set as the regular space pirates so they got included in Metroid1.pak. It doesn't mean they were intended to show up there. --Parax0 (talk) 17:22, 14 September 2015 (EDT)
Heh, yeah the things we've learned in the past 2 years Antidote (talk) 05:11, 19 May 2016 (EDT)

Music

http://tcrf.net/Metroid_Prime#Unused_Audio Who ripped that first track? It sounds...odd. Is the skipping part of the game audio? If so, you should probably add a note. Robotortoise (talk) 19:50, 27 May 2014 (EDT)

Is this track even in the game? I have a complete game rip and this track is not included; the wikipedia page for Zhaytee says the track was discovered and publicized by IGN. Mammal Sauce (talk) 13:51, 9 July 2014 (EDT)
Yeah I can't find it in the game files. I think someone just made it up. :( Robotortoise (talk) 15:24, 9 July 2014 (EDT)

Animations

There's a looooot of cut animations that could be added to the page for anyone who's interested in going through, finding them and recording them. For example, a lot of enemies have unused death animations and animations for being thrown through the air and hitting walls, Beetles and Jelzaps have animations for unused attacks, Samus's face has unused expressions, etc. There are two options to view/record them; you can either use my editor Prime World Editor or you can use URDE/hecl to export the animations to Blender. --Parax0 (talk) 18:56, 3 May 2016 (EDT)

Unused audio clip?

I was looking in the AGSC (musyx AudioGroup data) for Orpheon when I found what sounds like Pirates fighting off parasites, but I don't ever remember hearing it, https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21757902/dunno_pirate_firefight.wav Can anyone verify it's unused? Antidote (talk) 05:11, 19 May 2016 (EDT)

NESemu Files

It looks like the North American version of the game has the files NESemu.rel, NESemulD.rel, and NESemuP.rel. Are these three different versions of the NES game (North America, Disk System, and PAL)? --ConnorRentz (talk) 20:13, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

Crash handler

While fumbling with some codes on Dolphin, I accidentally caused this screen to appear. I haven't seen anything on the MP1 page for this before, is this new by any chance? Catmality (talk) 03:21, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

An infinite loop from injecting code leads to a red screen.
