Robotortoise's Talk Page Archive 2

Hey, man.

Just to note on the Undertale page, the word "jafe" means "dumb female", though in speculation terms, this would refer to Toriel, because Frisk has no confirmed gender, and to paraphrase John Romero on Doom, "There was never a name for the marine because it's supposed to be YOU." .....and yes, it literally means that.

-Bunboon

Ah, thank you! I just googled it and can confirm what you said. (Not sure why I didn't do that to begin with, honestly.)
That's certainly an out of place insult, jeez. What makes it really odd is it's a voice line. Oh, and also: Is jafe considered a swear word? Considering it's on Urban Dictionary and not, say, a more "reputable" dictionary website, I have to wonder....
Robotortoise (talk) 01:46, 14 December 2015 (EST)

It is most likely a profanity, considering when Papyrus says "Oh my god" during one scene.

-Bunboon

Heh, the characters say "Oh my god" a lot, actually. But I suppose it doesn't matter anyways, as Undertale isn't rated by the ESRB. I was just wondering if it was possbly cut because it was inappropriate for the rating the game was going for. Robotortoise (talk) 14:07, 15 December 2015 (EST)

Question about realtime .rev files:

Do the .rev files contain the animations for the cutscenes? I can't seem to find them in the chr.pkb file, and I've heard that the .revs contain animation data, but I'm wanting to make sure. Also a way to extract them if we even know how to, yet. Thanks in advance. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eureka Drama X (talk • contribs)

Yes, as far as we know they contain animation data for cutscenes. There's no way to extract or even switch them in-game as far as we know, however. Robotortoise (talk) 20:57, 11 January 2016 (EST)

Just stick with the subpage templates

Yeah, Xkeeper found the images you uploaded pretty obnoxious (both in that we already have a better way of distinguishing subpages) and a bit big. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 20:33, 22 March 2016 (EDT)

Okay, sorry about that. I was trying to be clever. Honestly, about halfway through formatting it, I thought that it looked kind of unprofessional. I should have trusted my instincts. Robotortoise (talk) 23:13, 22 March 2016 (EDT)

Fire Emblem: Awakening regional difference?

Hey, quick question. In my copy of Awakening, my Gaius and Cordelia S-support conversation glitches out midway through. Particularly, the lines "Only to you, Cordelia." and "Anyway, I was wondering if you" come out at the same time and instantly scroll up to leave the message box, scrolling up ABOVE the box. I then get the "have time to give me a trim." line all by its lonesomeness. Since I can't see this problem in videos and the like, I'm wondering if this is a glitch present only in the European version. Do you have any way of checking? I don't really know of anybody more immediate to ask. {EspyoT} 14:46, 20 April 2016 (EDT)

So I haven't reached Rank S with those two on my file, but I looked it up on Youtube and it seems to be fine in the U.S. version. It's probably an error with the European version, oddly enough. Robotortoise (talk) 16:00, 20 April 2016 (EDT)

Cropping and converting JPGs to PNG

I don't care how much it saves or how you're removing artefacts from the JPG images. DON'T DO THIS. -Einstein95 (talk) 23:33, 17 May 2016 (EDT)

Do not crop ripped graphics

The guidelines for ripped graphics say: "Ripped Graphics: Upload textures and graphics at their original resolution." Since this is not more specific and I did not find another rule making this clearer, this also applies to the size of a texture. Do not crop them even if the border might have transparent columns or rows. The crop of the Gu_Menu render was okay. - Ray Koopa (talk) 05:57, 18 May 2016 (EDT)

Robotortoise has been blocked for a while. He'll keep this in mind next he contributes. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 06:25, 18 May 2016 (EDT)
Yeah, it wasn't very clear from the guidelines though. But good I wasn't wrong with this :) - Ray Koopa (talk) 06:57, 18 May 2016 (EDT)

Question Regarding Xenoblade's World Models

Hello Robotortise. I am currently in the process of porting Colony 9 into the source engine, and I have had some success thus far, but I ran into a problem recently. All of the world geometry in the map file works perfectly, but I have searched for hours and simply cannot find the world models associated with the map anywhere (things like trees houses ect). I have searched in obj.pkb, all the valid brres files decompiled from Colony 9's .dap file, and a couple other places. The closest thing I found to the actual world models was Colony 9's .LOD file, that contained what appeared to be the textures I'm looking for (most likely in lower resolution considering it is level of detail) but the textures do not contain any associated models. I'm wondering if you have had any luck finding any of these models while digging around in the archives, if you have, or know where to look, any input would help me out a lot. Thanks in advance. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Obodobear (talk • contribs)

Hm... I haven't messed around with Xenoblade in quite a while, but I have a bunch of maps sorted by their individual files (for instance, Colony 9 is actually made up of 8 files.). They're an archive, IIRC. These seem to have the individual parts intact - most likely, they're in there, but BRRESViewer isn't able to see them if they're not split up enough.
I'm not quite sure how these were extracted. I assume cutting them out of the maps with a script. Anyway, I can send these to you if you'd like. Add me on Discord - copyrighted files aren't exactly encouraged here. Robotortoise#0710. Robotortoise (talk) 21:52, 24 May 2017 (EDT)

Lambert

Sorry for not responding sooner! "Lambert" is a material type in 3D modelling, and Nintendo uses it a lot. Look in many of their models since the GC era, especially during the Wii era, and you'll see the string in there, even today with Switch models. I can assure you with how frequently it's used that it's not the name of the character. --Untitled-1 (talk) 20:00, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Thank you! I will rectify the name. I should have researched it further all those years ago! Robotortoise (talk) 02:33, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Unused File

This file is unused [[:File:Texturipper 1.1.7z]], can it be deleted or implemented somewhere? --Hawk (talk) 21:06, 18 November 2021 (UTC)

Sure, I'll mark it for deletion. Robotortoise (talk) 21:31, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
