Debug Map Select

Yesterday I found the map select file of Spirit Tracks in the /Course:

/Course/courseinit.cib ZCIB (Map Select text file)

/Course/courselist.clb ZCLB (Map Select file) - Map Select List

I see that you are finding map selects left and right :P. Looks like there are more interesting test maps here than in PH. Are you going to try and see if you can load the map select for either game? If you do, I have some tools to recommend (although you probably already know about them).
  • If you need an emulator with a good memory editor that can set breakpoints for reading/writing to memory and set breakpoints in the ASM code, I'd recommend using the debug version of No$gba.
  • If you need to examine/replace ROM files and recreate ROMs, I'd recommend using Tinke(It's like the GCNtools for DS ROMs).
If I were you, I would try loading up the unused rooms (if they still exist in the ROM) before trying to load the map select menu. Use Tinke to replace a map file that you know is used in the game (and is easy to access) with an unused map, save the ROM and see if the replaced map loads when you go to it. --Cuber456 (talk) 14:09, 12 March 2014 (EDT)
I tried a little, but it seems difficult for me to find a way to access the map select, I am still limited in some things in the hack. There are things I'd like to learn, but they are often in English and as I still have a little trouble understanding this language, it is quite complicated to read tutorials. In The Wind Waker, I was lucky enough to have seen the file "framework.map" and put me on the path to success. Nevertheless, I will try to search, but it would be interesting a hacker very experienced looks at the subject.
I use the emulator DeSmuME is well equipped to hacked. Yes, I know Tinke, this is where I found the files.
It seems to me that most of the test rooms in the map select do not exist in the game. Nintendo has thought to clean... I do not even know if the map select is always available despite the presence of files.

I found how to change a screen in Phantom Hourglass, as to how The Wind Waker, but I unfortunately found nothing. For Spirit Tracks, I have not found the method, the game seems a bit different from the other Zelda DS. Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks are even less hacked than others, then there is little reference.
If the screen of the map select is missing, maybe he activates in another way without changing screens. In this case, it is even more complicated. May be possible by activating debug mode, but where...

Updated? Music

I compared the two versions. Despite having differently sized soundfonts, the midi files (I used VGMTrans) are the same size, aside from 4 bytes. I'm not sure what they changed, exactly. When I rendered both songs, I couldn't tell the difference. THere was only a few bytes of change in taht, too. The waveforms were slightly different, though. I'll paste the music below.

Phantom Hourglass Boss Battle

Phantom Hourglass Great Sea

Spirit Tracks Boss Battle

Spirit Tracks Great Sea

In fact, they're so insanely similar, the upload wizard thought that the two boss battle themes were the same file! If anyone is able to tell the difference, let me know. I'll examine the soundfonts and see what changed there. Robotortoise (talk) 02:15, 19 May 2015 (EDT)

Oh, and here's the MIDI and SF2 files, straight from VGMTrans. You need 7-zip or some other 7zip compatible program to unzip it, and you need a soundfont/MIDI player like Synthfont to play it. The file size difference in the soundfonts is tremendous, but I can't seem to figure out what it is. If anyone figures anything out, let me know!Robotortoise (talk) 02:38, 19 May 2015 (EDT)

Cut shadow temple?

I was looking through the models and textures within the Npc folder and found a model and texture called "DSDK".

The model is a standard temple entrance platform, but the textures are what looks like purple stone and one has a symbol that is not seen in any other temple. Supposedly, this platform is part of a shadow temple that was cut during development, as there exists concept artwork for a 6th shadow sage within the Hyrule Historia book. There could be more models and other files related to this cut temple/section within the game.

All I just need to do is get a clear shot of the model with the texture on it. --Gregnk (talk) 16:44, 31 December 2017 (EST)
