DVD Note

Note that a hacked wii can play DVD's but it shortens the overall life of the wii console, this was probably why they took it away. From: SamuelEarl666

It's more likely that they didn't want to pay licensing to the DVD Forum. TheKins 06:36, 7 March 2012 (EST)
Your right, something to do with it being patented technology. Same with the Wii-U. From: SamuelEarl666

Animation - N64 Virtual Consoles

I found a long time ago. I made a gif (with a good program, thrust me), and here is the results:

N64.gif N64 Mirror.gif

These even are used somehow, but there isn't the background, it only show the N64 spinning... And the mirror is unknown.

Any idea?

Oh and edit, this one was found at Star Fox 64 Wad, as well other 64 games have the same animation.

Actually...

If we count the Color TV Game series, he was right.

...Should we count the Color TV Game series? --Afti 22:14, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

I'm tempted to say "no," but...I dunno. There were five of the stupid things, which would make the NES Nintendo's sixth console (unless you consolidate the series into one "Color TV Game"). That just sounds weird, especially since we don't--and likely never will--cover the Color TV Game series, so there's a huge gap.
We could just drop the numbering from the articles altogether and substitute something a little more interesting (ex: "The NES was the first programmable Nintendo console..."). I dunno. Bleah. More opinions/suggestions wanted. --BMF54123 22:23, 11 September 2012 (EDT)
Cart-based console, maybe? // Foxhack 22:29, 11 September 2012 (EDT)
Could just refer to them by generation. "The Wii is Nintendo's seventh-generation home console." --Afti 22:31, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

Does anyone know about this?

Looks like a generic debug disc where you can burn the games to it to test them on the real console. Phrossi (talk) 11:38, 9 December 2015 (EST)
"Please note, this disc is brand new and never been used, therefore it is blank and has no game data of any sort on it." Literally nothing to see here, move along... --BMF54123 (talk) 21:06, 9 December 2015 (EST)

Start-up Disc

It has been revealed that the Startup Disc contained a currently lost version of the Wii Menu. Screenshots of this disc in action can be found, but a dump of it has not been found.

Apparently, the version number is 0.8b, but there was no source as to how this version number was retrieved. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 03:32, 15 May 2017 (EDT)

With no source or other useful information, it may as well be speculation and thus does not belong in the article. --BMF54123 (talk) 03:34, 15 May 2017 (EDT)
Sorry if the editing of this sucks I am new but the disc files have been found but i don't think it had beta menu. Flake-From-Mirror-Castle (talk) 2:23 PM, 8 September 2020 (MT)

iQue Wii

Plans to release the Wii in mainland China were canceled. However, it's been reported the System Menu has leftovers of it. Anyone more familiar with this? https://twitter.com/chinesenintendo/status/1048370117308895232/photo/1 Theclaw (talk) 09:28, 6 January 2020 (EST)

I don't know anything about that startup screen, but I do know (from some unrelated reverse engineering of why RLWW is allowed as a European game even though W as the last letter of a GameID normally indicates Taiwan) that there is a region code for it. Here's the relevant bit of code, though it is rather messy; the pertinent things are that China has a region defined as 5 (at 81687450 or 01687450 in 4.3U) and that it would have gotten GameIDs ending in C (code at 8137e6e4 or 0137e6e4). --Pokechu22 (talk) 20:29, 7 January 2020 (EST)
