Proto:Yume Nikki
This page details one or more prototype versions of Yume Nikki.
All versions of Yume Nikki prior to Version 0.10 were once available on vector.co.jp, where Kikiyama uploaded the game, but the site automatically deletes the previous version each time a new version is uploaded. This combined with Yume Nikki having a substantially smaller following in its early days led to all versions prior to v0.10 becoming very elusive.
Thanks to Team #LaInvestigaciónYN, five of the ten pre-v0.10 builds listed on Kikiyama's website were recovered from Japanese magazines that distributed freeware games. Each build features numerous differences from v0.10.
(Note: We recommend viewing the v0.04 page first for context on the differences present in later versions.)

How to Play
- If you plan to play these versions yourself, consider using Locale Emulator to display the text correctly on non-Japanese systems.
- The Japanese RPG Maker 2003 RTP will also need to be installed.
- Alternatively, the image files needed from the RTP can be downloaded here, so long as they are renamed to the specified Japanese filenames.
- If all else fails, there's always EasyRPG.
