Byte Comparison Program?
I heard there's a program that allows you to check a rom with another rom and compare the bytes. Would this be useful here to see if SOMETHING is up? --Signed: Vectrex (talk) 22:13, 9 December 2013 (EST)
- Byte comparisons are not terribly useful when comparing early prototype and final ROMs, because there are so many differences. A disassembly is much more useful. --BMF54123 (talk) 22:16, 9 December 2013 (EST)
- This isn't an early prototype, as it is close to the final. And would you rather look to find nothing, or use the byte comparison program and see "Hey, there is nothing up."? --Signed: Vectrex (talk) 19:53, 10 December 2013 (EST)
- Depending on the way a game is built, something as simple as changing a string of text or adding a palette definition can cause huge segments of the ROM that aren't actually different between versions to be marked as different. BMF knows what he's talking about, trust me. -- Xkeeper (talk) 19:59, 10 December 2013 (EST)
- I found at least 1680 differences, but most of them are probably sprite differences. -- ( Cdudeiscool | contribs ) 22:08, 16 August 2014 (EDT)
- I checked out all the music on this version, and so far all of them sound like what is on the released version. All of the intermissions from levels 5, 10, 15 and 20 on the medium and high levels are intact. --WikiPro1981X (talk) 00:27, 21 November 2015 (EST)

Question
Where can I find the final Dr. Mario Prototype ROM? Can someone please insert a download link in the sub page? --Signed: Aguy1234 (talk) 17:51, 16 July 2016 (EST)--
- I'd also like to find this revision if anyone has it. DangItBobby (talk) 16:32, 30 August 2016 (EDT)
- ...There's been a link on the main Proto:Dr. Mario (NES) page to the Lost Levels thread, which contains said ROM, for quite a while now. -WarioBarker (talk) 16:39, 30 September 2016 (EDT)
