The sixth installment of the Space Quest series - and, so far, the last... in an official capacity at least.

The game had a pretty troubling development: designer Josh Mandel (of Freddy Pharkas fame and the voice of King Graham in King's Quest V) left partway through, leaving Scott Murphy (one of the Two Guys from Andromeda) to pick up the pieces... albeit with some issues, like the infamous datacoder puzzle solution being shoved into the included Popular Janitronics issue.

On the bright side, Gary Owens returns as narrator and there are a lot of jokes to be had in this adventure through outer, cyber and inner space.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Everything from here.
  • Many unused songs, I attempted recording some of them, but I fear the bpm is off (thanks Audacity/Audacium)...
  • Many unused sounds.
  • Easter eggs aplenty.
This neat piece of software can be used to rip stuff out of the game.

Notes

Unused Graphics

SQ6-rogertakesrag.gif

Roger pulling the rag off the sawhorse outside the Cyberspace office. While a description of the rag also exists, no graphic of the rag as an inventory item seems to be present.

Sq6-stellar-beforecutoff.gif

An image from Stellar's message to Roger. It looks like she was supposed to turn to her right just before her message was interrupted, which would have added to the drama of the scene.

Sq6-handcuffs.gif

Looks like the handcuffs Roger had to free himself from were an inventory item at one point.

Sq6-lotsofnerves.gif View9646-0-2.png Sq6-nervesmagnet.gif View9647-0-2.png

The bundle of nerves (whose coloring makes them look oddly tasty) was also an inventory item at one point, as was the nerves/paperclip electromagnet. They also have voice descriptions.

Buckazoid.png Buckazoidcursor.png

Graphics for a sad single buckazoid lie within the resources. It goes unused since even when you have one buckazoid, it shows the usual pile of buckazoids graphic.

View443-1.gif View443-2.gif

The guards of the Deepship shuttle bay have talking animations. However, they say nothing in the game.

Unused Used
SQ6Rhudunused.png SQ6Rhudused.png

Inside the game's resource files is the hud, however it is an earlier version that refers to verbs instead of body parts, as well as calling your pockets "loot".

Leisure Suit Larry 6 Leftover

View922-0-6.gif

Hidden in the sprite assets is a death animation from the high res version of Leisure Suit Larry 6, not too surprising since they were in development around the same time.

Unused Music

130 - Amen (Liver)

Originally meant for the liver.

210 - Discourse #1

Would later be used in King's Quest VII.

214 - In Town

Some unused town music. (Perhaps when the city looked like it did in the prototype image found in the rather SQ6-y unused scene?)

505 - Mr. Soylent Song #1 - instrumental

The instrumental version of the Soylent clear theme. The MIDI goes unused.

506 - Mr. Soylent Song #2

Meant for the Mr. Soylent food replicator.

Debug Mode

Left in the game's code is the SCI debugger. To activate it, just make a blank file called "CLASSES", all caps and no extension. When you start up the game, you will skip the logo and be greeted with the teleport menu.
