Lethal Lava Land instrument?

Sounds like a Dulcimer? It sounds identical to the one used in Super Mario 64 for Lethal Lava Land, and in Majora's Mask for Great Bay. I can't recall any of the songs having this....or am I just misremembering?Robotortoise (talk) 23:15, 9 June 2015 (EDT)

I do remember this being used at least in the King Boo Battle music. So it is not unused.-Geno2925 (talk) 14:52, 11 June 2015 (EDT)
Yep, good memory. It's in there. Robotortoise (talk) 18:24, 11 June 2015 (EDT)

Ghost Girl Mystery [Busted]

Since I recently started studying Japanese, I used my knowledge to my advantage and did the favor of investigating the strange "Bon-naku bon-naku chi" sound in the game's files.

As far as I know, "Bon" isn't a sound used anywhere in the Japanese alphabet. However, the word "Naku" means To Cry, and "Chi" means Blood. If bon is some sort of outdated connective word, then the girl is saying "With cry with cry blood", which makes no sense.

So in my opinion, I'd dismiss the "Creepy Message" as nothing more than mere gibberish sounds that just happen to relate to those words. --Derpycookie11 (talk) 20:12, 16 October 2015 (EDT)

My Japanese is spotty at best but I have seen bon as an onomatopoeia for (bees) flying. Naku can also mean "to call out" in come cases or is used as a term for when an animal cries out or a bird's singing. Chi has a ton of meanings including the music note ti/si (depending on your school of music). It may not be a sentence but a list of words related to birds? Fly, Sing; Fly, Sing, (Ti)". Which could have some creepy symbolism. --Leo Gruen (talk) 20:26, 16 October 2015 (EDT)

Super Mario Bros. theme song ending?

A BMS to MIDI converter was made. While I was playing around with the MIDIs in SynthFont, I noticed something odd: Mario02.bms has an ending to the song where it plays the "Mario dying" music. Isn't Mario02.bms the remix of the Super Mario Bros. theme that's used right before the Melody Pianissima battle? It loops, right? I couldn't hear this part of the song in any Youtube videos.... Robotortoise (talk) 04:47, 18 October 2015 (EDT)

It is probably looped by an instruction in the sound engine or the sound file. It doesn't sound like you're ever meat to hear that end part though since it sounds sort of weak for the game's setting (although, arguably, a game with this many ghosts could have made good use of the death jingle). I believe it cuts off before the jingle if the Melody battle begins and will loop the rest forever afterwards. It is possible it does play but can't be heard due to other effect of Melody appearing, though it may have been intentionally mixed out even if it does play. Or perhaps it only loops so many times and no one has been patient enough yet. Either way the player probably would never hear it. --Leo Gruen (talk) 05:05, 18 October 2015 (EDT)

DM Biku 4

So recently a person was able to port Luigi's animations to Bmario. He added a test animation functionality to the Toad in the Foyer. It was nice to see them themselves, until it came to the 2 DM Biku animations, One was the repurposed Scream from the E3 Demo which the Scared ya ghost that ended up used in the Bosses cutscenes, the other DM Biku 4 is fully unused, but we have seen it before. It was the animation on the Spaceworld trailer snippets in which the chandelier was falling on Luigi, and he was running away.

Huh, interesting. I'll check it later tommorow as i don't have the time right now. -Phrossi (talk) 21:38, 6 March 2016 (EST)
DM BIKU 02 is used for the boss battle introes. I'm not so sure about DM BIKU 04. --989Nintendo898 and his Talk page Nitrods marioheadanim.gif 13:31, 8 March 2016 (EST)
DM BIKU 04 is used for the Boolosuss cutscene. I think, that is.

Beta Title Theme?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMNAR-gLvrs I've heard this beta theme plenty of times now, but I've always wondered how people were able to get their hands on it and upload it to YouTube. As far as I know, we do not have access to any beta discs, so it could not have been ripped from there. Is this a fan recreation, or was it ripped from the full game? --Xwasp (talk) 00:13, 28 February 2017 (EST) sorry, forgot to sign

Recreation. -Einstein95 (talk) 01:14, 28 February 2017 (EST)

Found hidden object on rooftop

Whilst playing Luigi's mansion, I found an invisible object similar to the one in the twin's room. It is located right as you come out of the lift to the roof, in the doorway. Upon inspecting it, Luigi says "Looks ordinary... A little TOO ordinary." Implying that it is a regular object. There is nothing 'inside' of it. In order to search it, you must inspect the center of the doorstep. Unknown if it is there in the 'Bowser' battle. Also unknown if it appears on versions other than NTSC. I wonder if there’s more hidden objects...

ThatGuyUKnow (talk) 18:50, 10 October 2017 (EDT)

yup, it's there in the bowser battle https://imgur.com/a/kjM7T Luigim1 (talk) 18:45, 15 April 2018 (EDT)
Does this mean the roof and the Bowser arena have the same level id? —ThatGuyUKnow (talk) 13:06, 2 May 2018 (EDT)
no, the bowser battle and the roof top (part of the mansion map) are two separate maps. The devs apperently copy and pasted the rooftop and added a door. Thats it. -Luigim1 (talk) 12:09, 3 May 2018 (EDT)
Oh, thanks. ThatGuyUKnow (talk) 13:50, 14 June 2018 (EDT)

should there be a seperate subpage for debug stuff?

should there? Luigim1 (talk) 18:41, 15 April 2018 (EDT)

I don't think there's enough to the debug display for it to need a separate page. A new subpage for something that's barely over one paragraph seems unnecessary. --989Nintendo898 and his Talk page Nitrods marioheadanim.gif 05:56, 16 April 2018 (EDT)
but there is more to debug mode, like the quads and the gui tests -Luigim1 (talk)
im gonna bring this back up, we should have debug subpage, there is more to debug, for example https://imgur.com/a/9ivfA2G -Luigim1 (talk) 22:05, 13 October 2018 (EDT)

Is the Effect folder completely unused?

All of the files appear to be unused, including door.bmd and effect.bmd, along with it's .mdl duplicates so I guess its safe to say that? -Luigim1 (talk) 20:55, 9 February 2019 (EST)

Have you tried running the game with the folder deleted? --Hiccup (talk) 09:36, 10 February 2019 (EST)
I've tried it, nothing seems to break (assuming game.toc has been changed as well). I'm gonna add it in the models page. -Luigim1 (talk) 17:15, 11 February 2019 (EST)

Luigi's "Oh Yeah" voice clip is used outside of Japan

In this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4V0DSyhYfM at around 4:20, Luigi says "Oh Yeah", On the tcrf sound page it says its only used in the japanese version of the game. so someone should remove it from the list.

Luige version of the deleted animations

So as soon as I heard that an earlier version of Luigi's model was found including the deleted animations I was ecstatic. Could someone please record the Luige Version of the earlier animations? The one on the wiki is the animations that was Bmario ported back to the used Luigi model and since Bmario doesn't have bones for facial animation it has none in the video on the wiki. --ConsUme (talk) 16:33, 29 May 2019 (EDT)

You don't need to, as they are identical. -Luigim1 (talk) 19:56, 19 June 2019 (EDT)
Wait, so there is really no data on the animations on the facial bones/flexes on Luige (Might just be a model that wasn't even intended to be final and was a model with no facial bones to transfer to bmario Or a Limited version of the 1st Player model for the recently discovered 2 player mode(That was cut Very early)). If that's the case then thanks for clarifying. --ConsUme (talk) 21:20, 2 July 2019 (EDT)
Woops, I need to clarify a few things. Yes there is facial animation for both "luige" and "bmario", as they both use the identical files. The problem with bmario is that he isn't (properly) rigged to have facial animation which is why he is always soulless. luige model (in the models archive) is an unused variant of the playable luigi model ingame, the multiplayer "mode" just uses only one Luigi model. About the multiplayer thing, yes there is a split screen mode for the multiplayer feature but the two players itself was hacked in to demonstrate the split screen functionality. Sorry if I confused you. --Luigim1 (talk) 04:53, 17 July 2019 (EDT)

Early splash banner?

I was reading the GameCube manual and found what may have been a placeholder splash banner for Luigi's Mansion. In the section where the manual teaches you how to start a game from the BIOS, it uses Luigi's Mansion as an example. However, the splash banner consists of the dialogue icons of Luigi, E. Gadd, and a golden ghost from left to right. The description is also different. It's blurry, but it reads "This is the new title in the Mario series." It was obviously intended as a placeholder due to how dry it is. Another thing is that Nintendo is listed by their full name, Nintendo Co. Ltd. instead of just Nintendo. --Supernintendo64 (talk)

I've added it to the prerelease page. But if you own a copy of the manual, some higher quality scans could be useful, unless its just that the manual itself is low-quality. --Hiccup (talk) 07:21, 6 December 2019 (EST)
You can download the manual on Nintendo's website. Google "Nintendo GameCube Manual" and it's the first thing that comes up. EDIT: Oh wait, you mean an actual hard copy of the manual which may have higher-quality images. Unfortunately, I lost mine long ago. --Supernintendo64 (talk) 16:37, 6 December 2019 (EST)
Yeah I mean a physical copy of the manual. The PDF on Nintendo's website is where I got the current images from. --Hiccup (talk) 15:20, 7 December 2019 (EST)

Obscured Audio

After defeating Chauncey a very VERY quite music track plays: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcT8uen6xog BrewmasterLo (talk)

The track is called "area boss defeated" on many of the fan-made soundtracks and plays after beating every boss, before you get teleported back to E. Gadd's lab. ...I can't really see what would make this talkworthy here, since it's not unused nor is it really that quiet that it would be inaudible... --Catonator and his Talk page 05:51, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

Updating the fear states due to a wall clip bug related to it

unfortunately this edit cannot be made by me, because if i send a link ill be risking my name being leaked, I'm not ready for that yet so, I was able to do this on area 2, get cornered by a bowling ghost near the courtyard entrance and get damaged with this code active: 040B6220 38000064 (First Line) 040B9314 38800000 (Second Line) placeholderfornocutoff 040B6220 38000064 040B9314 38800000 (Full Code), if you it right you can clip into the courtyard, i exited the save and re-entered so i would not break a sequence --BrewmasterLo (talk) 21:42, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

Unused assets found in WarioWare: Get it together!

I remember seeing a tweet (can't find it, but it was likely a Supper Mario Broth tweet) that showed how the Luigi's Mansion microgame in Get it together! had some early textures for the parlor, including the infamous portrait of a purple ghost that sports a pipe and hat. I have a vague memory of it being included on Get it together!'s page, but I can't seem to find it. But I'm likely misremembering. I'll try to see if I can find the tweet soon. In general, what do we do when we find content for one game in another? Do we add it to just one article? How do we choose which one? What's the game plan here- --OlimarRocks 17:00, 10 January 2022 (UTC)

ELH's cores!

Found in root/Map/map5, there are cores that relate to elh possibly? Or these could be early elemental ghost balls that luigi can suck up. There is a Fire, Water, and Ice core here.

Elh's fire core
Elh's water core
Elh's ice core

There are eyes here that look similar to the element ghosts in-game, so its possible that these could be for elh, or the element ghosts.

Eyes for elh? Or early ghost element eyes?

I've seen these posted on a Luigi’s Mansion discord… two years ago. I don’t know why they haven't been added to the page, honestly.
