Dragon Quest I & II (SNES)
Dragon Quest I & II |

Developer: Chunsoft This game has hidden developer credits. This game has a Data Crystal page |
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article? |
Dragon Quest I & II is a souped-up compilation of the first two games.
To do: There's a debug mode, apparently enabled with the cheat code 7E3E6578. Source. |
Developer Message
Appears at offset 0x04B7DB in the ROM:
TAMURA KOUHEI KAWASKI SHI TAMAKU MASUKATA 5-12-14 TEL 044-911-6739
The message contains the name and (likely outdated) address and telephone number of programmer Tamura Kouhei, who isn't credited elsewhere in the game. It appears that he was also a programmer for Dragon Quest V.
Treasure Chests
If you use the "walk through walls" Game Genie code 6262-6D0F, you can access the treasure chests behind the desks of shops in towns. Many contain either nothing, 501 gold, or 503 gold...but if you go to the town of Leftwyne, the chests behind the lottery shop contain a Golden Card, Orb of Restoration, and a Lottery Ticket.
Rhone Weirdness
In the original version of Dragon Quest II, you can see parts of Rhone from the outside world: white mountains and ground. In the remake, you cannot. However, with the aforementioned walk-through-walls code there is a single-screen-sized map that looks nothing like Rhone and has a castle you cannot enter. This is, in fact, a copy of Moonbrooke castle without the poison swamp, as seen in the opening cutscene. Even weirder is that the mobs from Rhone spawn here. You cannot enter the castle, but your ship spawns on the water even if you had the ship elsewhere.
