Gex Jr. was ImageBuilder's attempt at creating/selling the idea of a 3D children's platformer game using the Maya engine (not the Autodesk animation tool). It's not entirely clear whether Crystal Dynamics was involved at any point or not.

A very short demo dated January 25, 2001 was released by justz00t on April 2, 2022.

Model Viewer

Pressing START will bring up a model viewer.

  • Pressing Up or Down on the D-PAD moves Gex Jr. vertically up and down.
  • Pressing Left or Right on the D-PAD rotates Gex Jr. clockwise or counter clockwise.

DINO Remnants

According to a developer, the game originally featured a "very cute" dinosaur character, but was later scrapped in favor of Gex Jr. Two files in the demo, DINO.MMM and DINO.MMX, contain several elements from this previous version (although they cannot be loaded as a level for Gex Jr. to explore).
