This page details one or more prototype versions of Quest for Glory: So You Want to Be a Hero (1989).

A demo version was released to help promote the game.

This font was used to display most of the in-game text and was changed for the final version.

Removed Font

This font was only used in the battle scene during the demo and was removed for the final release of the game.

  • The HUD was spread out more so it was much further from the centre of the screen to give more room for the monsters. The stat bars were packed more tightly together and the hero's HP block was properly aligned with his SP and MP blocks. The font used for status was changed to match the regular text font used throughout the game.
  • Cheetaur's combat position was changed. The torso (along with the head) was shifted up, the arms were pulled away from the torso (especially his left arm) and the tail was brought moved in towards the centre. The background image used for the lower half of the body remained unchanged.
  • Hero's combat position was altered considerably. The entire body was shifted down, the right arm was moved to the right and the left arm was moved down and to the left.

Though the circumstances behind the use of this scene are different between the demo and the final version, they shifted the hero's position over to the left and did not implement lightning effects in the background.
