Unused Music

A few songs were likely intended for additional in-game BGM. All music was used in the Sega Saturn and 3DO versions renamed as Shanghai: Triple Threat. It is unknown why any of the songs were cut from this version. ROM address 8484DC?? (initial release, BS-X), 8484DB (REV 1) will replace the Config menu music.

Anti-Piracy

The game normally does not contain any SRAM, but still checks for it every frame by inserting two different byte values at $700000 and comparing them for a mismatch. On original cartridges, the SRAM write will do nothing, but cartridge copiers tend to include large amounts of SRAM to support a variety of games. If the write is successful, trying to start an Arcade Mode game will simply restart the game before the first cutscene, rendering that mode unplayable. Additionally, whenever the game restarts after completing/failing a puzzle, the game locks up on a black screen. Original Mode still plays as normal.
