Music
On separate tweets, Tax and Stealth stated that they thought the original Hidden Palace music "didn't fit" the level, and more interestingly, they said that the music most people expected (from the sound test in the final game) was actually for a cutscene. Here's a page discussing this from TSSZ. Thoughts? WhoIAm (talk) 20:54, 14 December 2013 (EST)
He forgets to mention that the cutscene-ish track was reworked to make it loop like a normal level's, and then assigned to that level slot before release. So, in the end, that was the music track they intended for it to have in the final version, regardless of prototype placeholders or personal preferences.--ICEknight (talk) 11:08, 18 December 2013 (EST)

Debug Oddities
Judging from posts on Sonic forums, there's some unused things that can only be accessed using debug mode. Most of these are found in Emerald Hill and Chemical Plant, with one in Aquatic Ruin.
- The Snail badnik. It rolls around until it sees the player, and then speeds up to hit him.
- The early Buzzer badnik. Its projectiles can actually burn bridges, as mentioned in the production notes for the original game.
- A blue ball, using sprites from an obstacle planned for Oil Ocean Zone, that explodes and drops Mega Mack on the player.
- Bubbler's Mother. It floats around until it drops exploding Bubblers on the player. The Bubbler sprite is edited and used in the good ending, where Knuckles's eyes are seen in a bush.
- A green Grounder. Perhaps a reference to AoStH?
There's probably more than this, though. Rightman (talk) 02:00, 15 December 2013 (EST)

The lost rings of zones 'Aquatic Ruins 2 ACT', 'Mystic Cave 2 ACT', 'Casino Night ACT 2', 'Oil Ocean 2 ACT' and 'Metropolis Zone Act 2' was corrected.
Some zones are impossible to achieve the 'perfect Bonus' with Sonic, as in the case of zone' Hill Top Zone 1 'and '2' which was built alternative routes to Tails. --Porcino (talk) 07:30, 28 December 2013 (EST)
I recall reading an interview where they wanted to have a full loop in a Sonic 2 special stage level, but couldn't due to some technical or space limitation. I can't find it but I bet this is what the 8th special stage references. --Heran Bago (talk) 18:03, 29 July 2016 (EDT)
Additions for Bugs page?
I've experienced a couple other bugs not documented on the Bugs page:
- Sometimes, the jump sound will be partially replaced by static, and it also occurs in the Sonic 1 and CD ports too. Video of it occuring in CD.
- I completed the game with Sonic, then Knuckles, then Tails. After viewing the credits with Tails, the Knuckles file displays Death Egg and takes me there when I open it, rather than saying Complete and having the level select. It's also happened in Sonic 1, where a completed Sonic file would take me back to Final Zone and never display "Complete."

Egg Gauntlet have leftovers.
Here is proof:
If you think it's fake just unpack Data.rsdk.xmf and open StringList.txt (Directory: Game/StringList.txt) — The preceding unsigned comment was added by NominalBoy2000 (talk • contribs)
Mobile "Ad-Supported" Update
Mobile "Ad-Supported" Update Found out that when Sega Forever updated the game around either 2022 or 2023, they changed a few things when using "Ad-Supported" mode. The playable character starts with one live, the player gets a pop-up saying if they want to continue after getting a Game Over, (more is explained here.), etc. Is that something to edit the "Revisional Differences"?
