Thumpies is a rhythm game where you make music with the titular fuzzy balls. It was the inspiration for My Singing Monsters, another game made by Big Blue Bubble.

In March 2024, an entire remake of the game with better graphics was released on iOS and Android.

Unused Songs

OGRenD

There are images and an intro theme for an unused song called OGRenD. The song itself doesn't exist.

Missing Songs

The ids for songs 1, 2, 5, 8, 15, 18, 22, and 23 are missing, though songs 1, 2, and 5 are taken in the form of song folders.

Unused Graphics

Blank Level Icon

There are multiple blank level icon sprites that are placeholders for other songs.

Beach Ball Texture

When Thumpies was early in development, the developers had ideas for the Thumpies to be objects such as bowling balls, eyes, or other stuff. This may be a remnant of that.

Early Controls

There is an image named controls.png that consists of right, down, left, up, A, B, and C icons.

Versus Mode

There was supposed to be a VS. mode, but was scrapped.

Debug Level Select

Many icons for each level for what seems to be a debug level select.

Obscured Graphics

Underneath Gooie's Pacifier

Thumpies Gooie face texture.png

Gooie's texture sheet contains a texture for the full front of its body that doesn't have its pacifier, which shows that under its pacifier is a mouth with some shading in the shape of the pacifier

BoOoo's Full Teeth

Thumpies Full boooo teeth texture.png

Due to the shape of BoOoo's mouth, a large portion of its teeth texture is never seen. However the portion that isn't visible in the model is visible in the texture, showing that there just isn't any teeth there, likely since the artists knew players were never going to see the full teeth.

Unused Models

blue_dice and red

Thumpies blue dice.png

Two models that are both the exact same with the only differences being that they link to different textures. blue_dice links to a texture called blue.tga and red links to a texture called red.tga, both of which do not exist in the games files.

beachball

Thumpies beachball.png

A small model of a beach ball that is related to the unused texture above. By default it crashes the game, however adding 4 bytes to the beginning of its file with the first byte being 01 makes it work in-game.

furface_detailed01

Thumpies furface detailed01.png

A small model of FurFacE's fur. By default it crashes the game, however adding 4 bytes to the beginning of its file with the first byte being 01 makes it work in-game.

greenteeth02

Thumpies greenteeth02.png

A sphere that was intended to be used for RawT's expressions, as the model links to a non-existant texture called greenteeth_expressions01. The image here uses RawT's normal texture, which is why it looks weird. By default it crashes the game, however adding 4 bytes to the beginning of its file with the first byte being 01 makes it work in-game.

Unused Sounds

GobAH

Two unused note sounds found in the beat1 folder of GobAH. They're both sampled from a way later part of the song, and were likely placeholders. These are actually part of an early version of this part of the song, as the voice saying "GobAH" is missing.

Three unused violin sounds found in the beat7 folder of GobAH.

doO-eNDay

4 bass guitar samples for a scrapped 4th section of the level. In the actual game, beat3 is the last section and after that the level ends, with a full version of the song playing that contains these bass samples. Something to note is that the audio heard after completing doO-eNDay is internally named "beat5.wav", while the audio for the section right before it is named "beat2.wav", with beat3 and beat4 being missing. Beat5 adds the bass and dubstep, so its possible that there was another scrapped part of the level.

Thumpie Internal Names

Some of the Thumpies have different names internally than their actual names.

Placeholder Text Strings

These text strings were used in Big Blue Bubble games that use the same text system that Thumpies uses, with the exception of My Singing Monsters. Other languages such as German have an extra one of these.

This uses a long line of text that is written normally.

This uses a big long soft-hyphen to extend.
