Unused Graphics

SRW4 VS.png

Unused graphics for a VS text can be found within the compressed tileset for the title screen located at 0xEDA6A. The object for this last option is actually present on the title screen, but marked as hidden; the Pro Action Replay code CB01FD30 will re-enable it, although this is purely cosmetic and no gameplay functionality exists for it.

Unused Pilots

The game contains several unused pilots that can be accessed by PAR codes. Some of them have the proper portrait, while others don't. Many of them don't seem to have properly started-out. The ZZ Gundam second-stringers appear in the semi-remake, Super Robot Taisen F. Since this game was built on Dai 3 Ji Super Robot Taisen and Super Robot Taisen EX, some of these pilots are likely leftovers from 3.

Gundam - Sayla Mass
Gundam - Lalah Sun
ZZ Gundam - Lina Ashita
ZZ Gundam - Beacha Oleg
ZZ Gundam - Mondo Akage
ZZ Gundam - Elle Bianno
ZZ Gundam - Ino Ahab
ZZ Gundam - Gremmit Toto
Gundam 0083 - Bernard Monsha
Gundam 0083 - South Burning
Char's Counterattack - Gyunei Guss
Char's Counterattack - Nanai Miguel
Char's Counterattack - Rezun Schneider
Dunbine - Zett Light
Dunbine - Tolstol Chechrenko

Unused Robots

The ROM contains data for many unused robots at widely varying levels of completeness. Most have complete weapon lists but only three have correct battle sprites (and one of those three is a headswap of a used robot, and another a mere palette swap) and some have placeholder stats (8000 HP, 200 energy, and everything else zero).

No. Name Series Icon Status Weapons Comments
051 A-Taul V Heavy Metal L-Gaim (same as God Neros) SRW4 AtaulV status.png SRW4 AtaulV weapons.png Nothing exists of this robot in the ROM except its name; it uses the data and graphics of the next robot in the list (number 052) which happens to be God Neros from GoShogun.
0CF Columbus Mobile Suit Gundam SRW4 Icon 0CF.png SRW4 Columbus status.png SRW4 Columbus weapons.png A Federation transport ship from Gundam. Its stats are apparently complete (the near-lack of armament makes sense since it's a transport) but it uses the sprite of the Bandock from Zambot 3.
0D0 Pazock Mobile Suit Gundam SRW4 Icon 0D0.png SRW4 Pazock status.png SRW4 Pazock weapons.png A Zeon supply ship from Gundam. Again, its stats are apparently complete but it uses the same sprite as the Bandock.
0D4 Graf Zeppelin Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 SRW4 Icon 0D4.png SRW4 GrafZeppelin status.png SRW4 GrafZeppelin weapons.png A Zeon warship from the War in the Pocket OAV miniseries. The sprite is Audhumla.
0D7 Alexandria Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam SRW4 Icon 0D7.png SRW4 Alexandria status.png SRW4 Alexandria weapons.png A Titans warship from Zeta Gundam. The sprite is once again Audhumla.
0DA Irish Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam SRW4 Icon 0DA.png SRW4 Irish status.png SRW4 Irish weapons.png An AEUG warship from Zeta Gundam. The sprite is Bandock.
0F8 Salonz Heavy Metal L-Gaim (empty) SRW4 Salonz status.png SRW4 Salonz weapons.png This Heavy Metal's status is incomplete but it does have the standard Heavy Metal beam coat. The sprite is Dunbine.
101 Gayrahm Heavy Metal L-Gaim (empty) SRW4 Gayrahm status.png SRW4 Gayrahm weapons.png Another Heavy Metal, this one with more complete stats but rather skimpy weaponry. The sprite is Dunbine.
106 Xi Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash (empty) SRW4 XiGundam status.png SRW4 XiGundam weapons.png Even less complete than usual, with only a beam saber for weaponry and the usual placeholder stats. Hathaway's Flash and the Xi Gundam would not debut in Super Robot Taisen until 2017's Super Robot Taisen V. The sprite is Dunbine.
10C Fake Cybuster Original (same as Cybuster) SRW4 NiseCybuster status.png SRW4 NiseCybuster weapons.png Apparently a copy or impostor of Cybuster, minus Cybuster's MAP weapon and Cosmo Nova. The sprite is Cybuster with a different head.
10D Nightingale Mobile Suit Gundam: Beltorchika's Children (empty) SRW4 Nightingale status.png SRW4 Nightingale weapons.png Another Mobile Suit from a novel, another unit with highly incomplete weaponry and stats. The Nightingale appeared as a boss in Alpha 2 and as a playable robot in D. The sprite is Dunbine.
120 Dogosse Giar Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam SRW4 Icon 120.png SRW4 DogosseGiar status.png SRW4 DogosseGiar weapons.png A Titans warship from Zeta Gundam. Unlike the other unused Gundam warships, this one has only placeholder stats (and Dunbine's sprite rather than Audhumla's or Bandock's).
121 Audhumla Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (same as Sudori) SRW4 Audhumla status.png SRW4 Audhumla weapons.png An AEUG transport ship from Zeta Gundam. The sprite is a palette swap of Sudori (which is accurate to the show; the AEUG's Audhumla and the Titans' Sudori were both Garuda-class ships).
129 Hyper Galava Aura Battler Dunbine (same as Galava) SRW4 HyperGalava status.png SRW4 HyperGalava weapons.png Jeril's Leprechaun and Todd's Wryneck both go Hyper on certain route branches, but Bern's Galava never does. The Hyper Galava is the only unused robot in the game with a completely unique sprite.

Debug Functions

Hmmm...
To do:
Document the rest of the codes found here.

Debug functionality for pausing the whole game can be enabled by the PAR code 7E105980. Holding down the Start button pauses all game processing, except for the audio. While the Start button is down, pressing Select will advance a single frame.

Revisional Differences

Hmmm...
To do:
There are probably more gameplay differences between the two versions.

Experience Bugs

In version 1.0, you can get experience points and money by destroying your own units with a MAP weapon. Also, in version 1.0, pilots can reach level 100, but when they do their unit's status screen will be displayed incorrectly. In version 1.1, 99 is the maximum level.

Robot Guide Difference

Version 1.0 Version 1.1
SRW4 Dom (1.0).png SRW4 Dom (1.1).png

In version 1.0, the in-game robot guide cites "Mobile Suit Gundam 0080" as the source series for the Dom. Version 1.1 cites the original "Mobile Suit Gundam". The likely reason for the confusion is that the Dom's sprite in this game is based on the appearance of the Rick Dom II from MSG 0080, but the description in the robot guide is of the original Dom from the original TV series. Some later SRW games include the Dom and the Rick Dom II as two different units.

Dialogue Difference

Hmmm...
To do:
Get screenshots of this dialogue.

Version 1.0 has a minor error (an incorrect kanji was chosen) in some dialogue between Amu and Daba, which was corrected in 1.1.

Version 1.0 アム「ふ〜ん・・・ね、ダバ、今、回りは誰もいないわよね?」
Version 1.1 アム「ふ〜ん・・・ね、ダバ、今、周りは誰もいないわよね?」
