You can use this to browse the internet on your Nintendo 3DS! Not that you'll want to.

Message Tag Source

The directory message has ms_tags.h, from Nintendo's internal source code of version 1.2.3.8240 of their internal localization tool, the exact same as the file in Nintendo Network Settings.

Regional Differences

3DS filter.png

The Japanese New 3DS browser (skater) has a filter that blocks pornographic websites (or at least, attempts to) and throws up the message "This page can not be viewed because the filtering function is enabled." It can be removed with a ¥30 (19¢) payment, the idea being that kids wouldn't have access to a credit card and be unable to pay this fee as a result. This is completely absent from other regions.

Revisional Differences

While the Internet Browser itself was never updated via software update, it was changed between the old 3DS and the New 3DS models. Old 3DS browser is known as spider, while the New 3DS browser is known as skater.

skater is generally more powerful than spider, with skater having implemented HTML5 video support, and controls updated to fit the New 3DS.
