Hmmm...
To do:
  • MAIN PRIORITY: DOOM 1 + DOOM 2 re-release is out. Rip out the entire id Vault! Do sounds first, that's easy. Tell that there is a file called "Common.kpf" available.
  • Clean up and finish the Peggle prerelease page, cause god it's a mess.
  • Finish the Doom prerelease page. Wow that was a jump in genre and theme, wasn't it?
  • Also, animate all lost soul sprite animations.
  • Add prerelease screenshots to Doom 2's prerelease page.
  • Make a development page for Doom 64, as there is a whole WAD with early things.
    • Further note, page sections should be as followed: To-do, find graphic changes for map textures, animate sprites and textures, compare changes, Download, Palettes, Modified Doom 1/2 Graphics, Early graphics (specific to Doom 64), new textures found in WAD
  • Help Mantis with the prototype stuff in Doom 64?
  • Finish all of the stuff in Doom 4's pages within DOOM (2016)'s prerelease page.
  • Finish the Quake prerelease.
  • Holy Shambler moly, there is a bunch to do in the Quake 2 prerelease page.
  • Music to-do in Sonic 1 prerelease page.
  • Add videos in the Sonic CD bugs page, thanks.
  • Document sound changes in the Sonic 3 sound differences page.
  • Get a video of Sonic's act 2 boss in Sky Sanctuary for the first Sonic 3C build.
  • Compare sound effects in the main Sonic 3D Blast page.
  • Sonic Origins with S3&K:
    • Compare Sonic's adjusted sprites.
    • Hyper Sonic's color changing effect.
    • Compare Eggman's glasses.
    • Compare the original game's music, the new music, and the November Prototype music.
    • Update the IceCap audio. They are low in quality with noise reduction.
    • Upload the Sonic & Knuckles versions of the Invincibility theme (both the Genesis and PC versions.)

Prototype Hunts (do way later):

  • Where's that damn Bejeweled Twist prototype search you ought to do? Get on with it! STOP LAZING AROUND AND DO IT!
  • PVZ prototype search.
  • Doom 4.

I like killing zombies, demons, Lovecraftian creatures, more Lovecraftian creatures, cyborgs, certain German leaders and soldiers during WWII, robots programmed by a mad scientist, and my friends. I operate a YouTube channel that I post gaming clips and stinky memes while constantly talking on Twitter about stuff no one cares about, but may occasionally talk about stuff about TCRF or find stuff about games and post about it there.

Unused stuff in games was fascinating to me when I was 10 years old when I started watching Cybershell on his Sonic Bonus Videos. He got the information from here, so I started to dig around this site more. Eventually, I created an account and looked around in my other favorite games, and I don't regret it. I try to find unused, cut, pre-release media, or even a prototype of a game one day. - INFAMOUS TerraKing-Infamous SignatureSymbol.png (Talk)

CATCH THE WAVE, DUDE!

Sonic surfing from the Sonic 3 Nov. 3rd, 1993 prototype & I'm funny I swear. However his surfboard was used again as a ski in IceCap Zone Act 1 in his intro.

Pre-Release Screenshot

FLOOPY

FLOOPY. Funniest thing I've seen from the Bejeweled games. All I have to say.

Concept Art

Not now, R2.

I lost my mind when I finally saw Dubious Depths Zone (previously "R2") in it's near-full glory in this concept art for Sonic CD. Dubious Depths has been a topic that has been rumored and fabled, and now it exists. Thanks Sonic Origins!

Music

Hidden Palace Zone from Sonic 2. Beautiful. Shame it was unused in the final game apart being heard from the Sound Test.

Sound

The unused challenge Eclipse unlock sound in Bejeweled Twist. I really like how mysterious it sounds. It really sounds like you unveiled something cool.

Text

  • At 0x3F00FE, there is a string that says "NOSEGAY is a word (c)T-SN1993MARPSY-Q TARGET"
    • "Nosegay" is in fact a word; it's defined as "a small bunch of flowers, typically one that is sweet-scented."
    • "NOSEGAY" contains "SEGA" as a substring and this string is aligned to be used as a ROM header. Someone's joke, presumably. (Psy-Q was a development kit.)

Someone's really funny joke in Sonic 3D Blast in the 814 Prototype. Good one out to ya, developer!

Doom: The Dark Ages

Okay this is pretty important. A new Doom game in the modern series was announced at the Xbox Showcase on June 9th, 2024 which is a prequel to DOOM coming in 2025. I have some info I need to write down here. Some info will be taken from the Doom Wiki and my personal analysis of the trailer at the bottom of this page. Some info may be edited at any time by me:

  • Early footage and statements from Bethesda suggest the gameplay will be somewhat slower and less aerial in nature than that of its predecessor, with, according to Slayers Club material, "firmly grounded, heavy-hitting clashes" featuring "vicious melee strikes" and destructible demons.[1] Of note is that no jumping whatsoever was displayed in the reveal trailer. This is supported by earlier statements from creative director Hugo Martin that he was considering taking the next game in the Doom series in a different direction where the player would feel more like a "tank" and less like a "Ferrari". The Slayers Club also mentions that the game will be taking account of influences from the design of the original Doom from 1993.
  • This title is now "Doom 4" in the series:

Prerelease

  • Early working name was Doom Year Zero, based on the FTC v. Microsoft report that also said the game was set to release in 2023 along with DLC in 2024. This caused people to speculate if this was a prequel to DOOM (2016) or DOOM Eternal. I think this is a reference to the song Year Zero by Ghost B.C.
  • The Verge: On May 8, 2024, Tom Warren let slip in an article on The Verge that, "Microsoft will be banking on some new game announcements lifting the 'Doom' around Xbox" (emphasis by original author).[2] This was interpreted at large as meaning that a new Doom title would be revealed in the near future.
  • Insider Gaming: Later that month on May 24, 2024, Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming further collaborated with Tom Warren's reporting that the next Doom game would be revealed at the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase. Henderson stated that Doom Year Zero was the codename/placeholder name for what was now called Doom: The Dark Ages, Alongside that the game "was described to me as a ‘medieval inspired doom world’."[3]
  • Polygon Interview: This description of the setting of Doom: The Dark Ages would correlate to a Polygon interview with Doom Eternal Game Director Hugo Martin released shortly before the release of Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part Two where Martin describing what the future of the Doom series could look like states “Could we tell a story about when [the Doom Slayer] first came to that place with the Sentinels, almost like a more medieval setting, a fantasy setting?” Martin asked. “I think as you play the DLC, too, you’ll see lots of hints of what we could do moving forward. Maybe even in the future. Again, our hero is somewhat timeless — I mean, literally, he’s immortal. So we could tell all kinds of stories.”[4] This can lead to the interpretation that Doom: The Dark Ages may take place in between Doom 64 and Doom (2016) during the Doom Slayers stay in Argent D'Nur with the Night Sentinels.
