The Game Gear version of Garfield: Caught in the Act is a port that controls better than the version developed by Sega themselves. Also, some people say that this game looks like garbage, but it's actually very authentic to the Garfield franchise; the graphics look exactly like what might come out of Garfield after a particularly bad plate of lasagna.

The Novotrade screen has a smaller version of their logo hidden off-screen at the top.

Unused Music

A swingy tune. It's unknown where it would have been used, but there are a few dozen places where it could have been used, given how often this game reuses music for multiple levels. Strangely, it is listed as song 01 in the sound test (song 00 doesn't play anything).

A short ominous jingle, purpose unknown. Listed as song 21 in the sound test. Song 22 is the final song listed, which is the ending theme.

Pause the game and press 1, 1, 2, 2, 1, 2 for the game's debug menu. Current X/Y coordinates are displayed on the first page.

  • LEVEL - Select level.
  • SOUND - Play sounds.
  • MUSIC - Play music.

Press 2 for the next page:

  • X WALK - Walking speed.
  • X RUN - Running speed.
  • X JUMP WALK - Walking speed in air.
  • X JUMP RUN - Running speed in air.
  • X DECEL - Rate of deceleration from movement.
  • Y JUMP SPEED - Momentum of jump.
  • Y GRAVITY - Height of jump (lower bit).
  • Y GRAVITY A - Height of jump (upper bit).
  • Y SPEED LIMIT - Proper speed of jump.
  • GUN - Set weapons.
  • LIFE - Lives.
  • POWER - Energy.
  • CONTINUE Continues.
  • UNLIMITED LIFE - Set to any value besides 000 for infinite energy.
  • UNLIMITED GUN - Set to any value besides 000 for infinite weapons.

Exiting the menu with 2 will activate free movement mode. The control pad moves Garfield and 1 places him.
