Tales of Destiny is the second main entry in the Tales series and was the first in the series to be released outside Japan.

A remake of the game was released for the PS2 in 2006 in Japan only. A true sequel for the PS2, Tales of Destiny 2 (not to be confused with the US title for Tales of Eternia) was released in 2002, also in Japan only.

Debug Mode

There are debug rooms in-game which, oddly, got their menus completely translated. It can be accessed with the cheat code 801B3B28 0004.

Enabling the code will make the cursor at the title screen select an invisible option. Selecting it will take you to the debug room. Some key combinations will have debugging options:

  • R1: Choose a battle to fight.
  • R2: Map warp.
  • X + R1: Choose a minigame to play.
  • X + R2: Choose an Event to see.
  • X + Select: Choose a movie to see.
  • X + Start: Switch between screen warping modes.

During battle, a new invisible option all the way to the right is now available, which offers various battle debugging options.

Voice Clips

There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough audio. Please fix this.
Specifically: Upload voice clips.

Playable characters that do not have Swordians have unused voice clips for their spells. This includes:

  • Chelsea
  • Johnny
  • Mary
  • Kongman

Turns out some of these voices are actually used by various enemies in the game, at least in the Japanese version. Not all of the voices are used, but they are all recorded probably for just in-case scenarios based on their needs for the enemy.
