Planned Super Game Boy Support

Like Pokemon Crystal, several Super Game Boy features exist but are either disabled or unused; only palette settings and the other basic commands load that Harvest Moon 2 also uses. To enable them, either modify the Super Game Boy flag at 0x146 to 03 or use the Game Genie code 031-46F-E6A. Likely added early on some time when the game was compatible with all Game Boy consoles.

Super Game Boy packets start at 0x0B68, 0x0BA6 and end at 0x67A5, 0x68A5.

Debug Mode

Game Genie code 012-96F-3B2 starts the game in a debug menu offering time settings, event testing, area warping, item modifiers, and a sound test. The Japanese version shows the text 0710 1452 which is likely a build version number.

The Debug Menu has

Option Description
TIME SET Menu to edit the game's year, month, date and time.
PROGRAM JMP Warp to any area in the game. The location names are Japanese in all versions.
ITEMLEVELSET Set the level of the tools.
S TANESET Set the item amount of seeds in the inventory.
H TANESET Set the item amount of hoe seeds in the inventory.
PLAYERSET Set the gender and pet.
Kawa Test Starts and modifies cutscenes, events and the snowboard minigame.
Option to enter the snowboard animation test.
DATA CLEAR Delete save data.
DATA LOAD Load save data.
SOUNDTEST Open basic Sound Test.
TUUSHIN Open Trade Menu.

Snowboard Animation Test

Game Genie code 342-96F-3B2 starts the snowboard animation test directly without entering the Debug Mode first. The mode allows to cycle through all snowboard minigame sprites as well as testing how fluent the sprites work together as animation.

Message Debug

Game Genie code 392-96F-3B2 starts a message debugger which allows to check textboxes inside the game. The textboxes are split in the following categories:

  • DEBUGMES: Text options like 'Yes' and 'No'.
  • TESTMES: Text inside the debug menus.
  • SOUBIMES: Text about tools and items.
  • HMAEMES: Text from signposts.
  • HATAKEMES: Unknown text category, only contains a single entry for "Left: Home".
