Proto:Five Laps at Freddy's/Demo

This is a sub-page of Proto:Five Laps at Freddy's.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Jumpscare animations for Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy.
  • Look into the unused Mystery Pizza and Threatening Drawing items.
  • There's an unused version of Items_DT called TEST_ItemsWeightless.
  • The beta branch.

A demo for Five Laps at Freddy's released on August 7, 2024 in a very buggy state, only to be immediately overshadowed by the early release of Into the Pit a few hours later.

The Moon Candy is an item that can be thrown onto a track in order to temporarily put any racers who touch it to sleep, which is indicated by the sound of a music box. If the player themselves happens to fall victim to it, a prompt which reads "WAKE UP!" will appear at the top of the screen alongside two red arrows with an icon of a joystick sandwiched between them. Although this makes it seem like you're supposed to wiggle one of the joysticks in order to regain control, this doesn't actually do anything and you instead wake up automatically after about three seconds.

Party Hat

TempPartyHat cone
FLaF TempPartyHat.png FLaF cone.png

An unused item that appears as a traffic cone but is also referred to as a Party Hat. Its function is currently unknown.

Pizza Shield

TemporaryPizzaTexture pizza_shield
FLaF TemporaryPizzaTexture.png FLaF pizza shield.png

A Pizza Shield item that was scrapped. Given that they're both pizza-themed shields, it's possible that this was the precursor to the Mystery Pizza.

Power Switch

FLaF switch.png FLaF TempPowerOut.png FLaF TempPowerOutUI.png

A Power Switch item that was scrapped. Associated graphics suggest that it would have seemingly turned off the lighting in a course.

Flashlight

An unused Flashlight item. Its function is currently unknown.

Jumpscare

TempJumpscareIcon jumpscare
FLaFDemo TempJumpscareIcon.png FLaFDemo jumpscare.png

An unused Jumpscare item. The temporary graphic resembles the Jumpscare effect from FNAF World.

Faz-Coins

FLaF coins.png

Unused Faz-Coins item. Presumably was or will be intended to be used as currency in a shop section of the game as is teased with Lolbit's room hidden in the main menu map.

Unused Maps

Level_Testing

Officially known as the "Test Zone", this track is essentially a large sandbox that the developers use to test most of the game's mechanics. Like all of the real tracks, it has an intro, but by default it wont play due to the bWillBeSkipped variable in the track's LevelIntroManager instance being enabled.

This map houses a trio of CPUs who do nothing but fire Bomb Bytes, Fireworks and the Fazblaster every four seconds, anti-gravity surfaces, a few props from the Sinkhole, all sorts of geometry, and, of course, birthday presents, glitched powerups, charging pads, and a single boost pad. The Day Shift and Night Shift system has been omitted, and the track can't be beaten due to the lack of a finish line.

Being a test map that's only meant to be accessed by developers, it should be no surprise that it's got quite a few quirks; you're constantly in "0st" place, certain areas will softlock you if you try to drive on them, you can easily break the anti-gravity if you're not careful, throwable items such as the Bomb Bytes and Moon Candy straight up don't work unless you throw them behind you and sometimes you'll even just take damage for no reason.

A full model of Lolbit, who doesn't appear anywhere in the demo under normal circumstances, despite being the first design for the game we were ever given a look at. This model is technically used in the main menu, but since the screen it's supposed to appear in hasn't been implemented it can't be seen without taking the camera out of bounds.

Unlike every other character, Lolbit has various different morph targets that all control how their eyelids are posed. Additionally, their default size is ginormous, and they're also fully posed by default, which is unusual for a skeletal mesh.

Unused Videos

flaf_projectorvideotest

Left over in the video files includes a gameplay video of the Puppet driving in Fazbear Hills, with what looks like a debug mode enabled.

TestZone_VideoSequence

The flyby intro video for the Test Zone map is also left over in the files.

Unused Animations

Freddy_Anim_Trailer

FLAF Demo UnusedAnimations FreddyTrailerPose.png

The static pose Freddy Fazbear strikes at the end of the game's trailer. He's so proud of himself.

Trailer Level Sequences

The Level Sequence Assets for the trailer's opening and ending shots were left in a folder in the root of the demo's Content directory called Trailer. Level Sequence Actors for them are also still present within the Fazbear Hills map.

Scene1

This is actually an old version of the opening shot! That's right, even the trailer has cut content! This version of the shot is longer than the final one and lacks any racers passing by while the camera is focused on the road. The camera is also much closer to the Freddy Fazbear's Pizza sign.

Scene1b

The final version of the opening shot. Fun fact: Balloon Boy and the Puppet are actually driving Bonnie and Mangle's Standard Karts respectively during this!

Scene2

The ending shot. Freddy Fazbear is supposed to be standing on the road with his Standard Kart here, but instead they're both sitting below the map.

Oddities

Purple Guy

FLaF PurpleGuy DefaultKartShell.png

The texture and material for Mangle's Standard Kart shell are referred to as T_DefaultKartShell_PurpleGuy_BaseColor and MI_DefaultKart_Shell_PurpleGuy respectively within the demo's files, implying Purple Guy is, or, at least, was, going to be playable in the full game.

Roxy Raceway

Asset Type Filenames
Static Mesh sm_RoxyRaceway_BarriereChantier
Static Mesh sm_RoxyRaceway_Cone
Texture sm_RoxyRaceway_Grillage_Barriere_aorm
Texture sm_RoxyRaceway_Grillage_Barriere_color
Texture sm_RoxyRaceway_Grillage_Barriere_normal
Material Instance MI_Raceway_BarriersCones

The filenames for the assets belonging to the striped construction barriers and traffic cones seen in the main menu, Fazbear Hills and Midnight Motorist all seem to indicate that a track based on the Roxy Raceway attraction from Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach will be present in the full game. Pretend to be shocked!
