Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is basically Super Smash Bros., but with Nickelodeon characters. Where else will you see Lucy Loud chow down on Powdered Toast Man, Korra, and April O'Neil at the same time? (Come to think of it, something like that might already be on DeviantArt...)

Unused Graphics
So. Many. Leftovers.

Unused Models

Hmmm...
To do:
Some models in this section lack sources, please find them.

Ittle Dew

Hidden inside the files are leftover models and textures of Ittle Dew from Ludosity's previous platform fighting game, Slap City. Ittle Dew served as a base template for developing all the characters for the game and was left in the game's files as placeholder material for the developers to work off of.

IttleDewNASB.PNG

VoidPirate

NASB VoidPirate.PNG

A model of a character called "VoidPirate" that can be downloaded for free from Adobe's Mixamo service under the name of "Pirate By P. Konstantinov" (the version available on Mixamo is actually textured), possibly for testing animations.

Grenade

NASB grenade.png

A model of a grenade.

Shotgun

NASB gun.png

A model of a shotgun.

Hammer

Nasb unusedhammer.png

A model of a hammer with a lion insignia on it.

Paper Staff

NASB PaperStaff.png

A model of a paper staff.

Target Wood

NASB Target wood.png

A model of a wooden practice target.

Dangerous Pumpkin

Nasb unused pumpkin normal.png Nasb unused pumpkin broken.png

Two models of a pumpkin with a face in both normal and broken varities. There are unused graphics related to these models, referring to it as "Dangerous Pumpkin".

Hugh Neutron Spear

Hut hut hut yeah, hut hut hut yeah, hooooh caribou!

A spear meant to be used by Hugh Neutron, based on the Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius episode Jimmy on Ice. The model is fully textured and is loaded into the game at runtime, much like his other props.

SpongeBob's Scissors

NASB Spongebob running with scissors.png

A pair of scissors with no textures can be found belonging to SpongeBob, and was intended to be his strong dash attack before being scrapped. It was cut due to Nickelodeon not wanting the star of one of their biggest franchises running around with scissors, one of the few times a move for a character was actually vetoed by Nickelodeon themselves.

Trombone Patrick

Nasb unused trombone patrick.PNG

An unused model of Patrick stuck in a trombone, based on the SpongeBob SquarePants episode Band Geeks. Presumably, it would have been intended as his loss animation but got scrapped.

Early Stage Remnants

Some stages in the game have elements that are clearly from earlier builds of the game, but are hidden away from normal play. These stage models are loaded at runtime when you select them but are obscured in real time and replaced by the stages that appear in the final game.

Early Duck, Duck, Pie! Main Platform

NASB pie beta.jpg

Duck, Duck, Pie! has an unused model of the main platform, which is a cherry pie with a completely different design that is more detailed and is missing a pie tin on the bottom. This model can still be activated in-game using UnityExplorer.

Early Jellyfish Fields Geometry

This is... advanced darkness.

Jellyfish Fields has leftover geometry leftover from a much earlier point in development. Unlike most other stages with unused geometry, this is the only one whose textures are completely abscent.

Early Harmonic Convergence

Nasb harmonic convergence early.jpg

Harmonic Convergence has leftover assets also from a much earlier point in development, and is much more finished than most other early stages.

Unused Stages

ModelViewer

Nasb ModelViewer.png

A boxed-in stage with one central platform and two rectangular platforms on each side.

Boxed

Nasb Boxed.png

A wide stage consisting of a black grid background, a main stage resembling what would become Jellyfish Fields, and stair-like platforms on each side. Its possible this stage was meant to test collisions.

Large

Nasb Large.png

As the name implies, this stage is very large with once again very simple geometry and a black grid background. Interestingly, CPU opponents have AI programmed on this stage, as they properly move around and start attacking the player, unlike the previous two stages.

Unused Items

Until an update on June 2, 2022, the game had no items, but several unfinished assets are still in the code left over from when these items were still in development.

FishingHook

NickBrawl FishingHook.png

In the game files, an image of one of the background employees on the Glove World stage called "FishingHook" can be found. Its labelled similarly to the game's items, and interestingly, characters in the game have voicelines labeled "vo_*character*_item_fishinghook" where they react to using it.

All of this suggests that a Fishing Hook item was once planned but cut.

Items_KrustyBlimp_Metallic

NickBrawl Items KrustyBlimp Metallic.png

One of the cut items intended for the June 2nd update was the "Krusty Blimp". A texture map intended for the blimp is all that remains of the item.

Kids Choice Awards Blimp

NickBrawl Items Blimp Boomerang Albedo.png

Hidden away in the texture for Sokka's Boomerang is an orange blimp from the Kids Choice Awards. It's common for items to have grouped textures with other items to save space, but the cut blimp item doesn't look like this at all, instead going for a SpongeBob aesthetic. As such, it's unknown what this blimp was intended for.

item_bumper

NickBrawl Bumper.png

Stock art of a steering wheel that became Tommy's Ball in the items update.

item_chain

Placeholder graphics for the Lawn Gnome item. The model seen in the first image is no longer in the game files as of the most recent patch, but its texture still remains. Its icon is still in the game files

item_d20

NickBrawl D20.png

Stock art of a D20 dice.

item_Anvil

NickBrawl Anvil.png

An anvil presumably meant for crushing people. This item would later go on to become the Anchor item.

Treehouse Platform

NickBrawl earlyPlatform.png

Stock art of the Platform item that was meant to be included in the items update that ended up being cut. This is the only remnant of the item left in the game's files, outside of voice clips involving it being used by characters.

item_Ukulele

NickBrawl Ukulele.png

A ukulele.

item_WetFloor

NickBrawl WetFloor.png

A wet floor sign.

item_helicopter

NickBrawl Helicopter.png

A self-proclaimed helicopter.

item_Turbine

NickBrawl Turbine.png

Stock art of a wind turbine.

item_sun

My eyes!

Stock art of a sun.

Unused Strings

Unused Shop

There was intended to be a shop system where you could purchase various items such as characters, stages, and even alternate costumes. The code for the shop is still in the game's data, under a function called Nick.Unlocks.

// Nick.Unlocks
//
// Types:
//
// IShop
// IShopItem
// LocalUnlocks
// Shop
// ShopItem
// ShopItemList
// UnlocksSystem

TestShopItem

As the name implies, this is a test .json file meant to serve as a shop item that goes with its similarly unused shop.

    "m_PathID": 0

  "m_Script": {
    "m_FileID": 1,
    "m_PathID": 966
  },
  "m_Name": "testshopitem"
}

Crossplay Functionality

The game was going to have crossplay between Xbox, Playstation, Switch, and PC players but was never implemented due to several issues during development. Various strings can still be found in the game's code, showing that it was being worked on for quite a while before being shelved due to technical constraints.

Crossplay would accidentally be activated for Switch and PC players in the game's backend on March 2nd, 2023 before being disabled a few days later. Crossplay would eventually be announced to be coming to its sequel, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2.

Unused Announcer Calls

There are a lot of unused announcer calls in the game. Some seem to refer to potential future characters, others are variations of calls for in-game characters... There's even a whole section of stage calls that go completely unused, as well as sounds for a store.

Early Versus Screen Announcer Call

An announcer call of a developer saying "Versus..." for the match loading screens. Most likely a placeholder.

Unused Character Calls

Several character-related announcer calls remain in the game's data. While there are names in here that could indicate towards them being playable characters in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, they don't confirm their future inclusion, as the developers have specified. (Potential spoilers ahead)

Unused Item Calls

At launch, the game didn't have items present, but there were still a whole bunch of announcer calls for them! Some of these items appear to have been repurposed into other elements (i.e. the TMNT Blimp for April's moveset) or are simply scrapped items entirely. These voice clips still don't appear to be used with the item update.

Unused Store Calls

There are a few unused announcer calls that reference a store that exists nowhere in the final game. The voice-lines in question seem to reflect what a player might have been able to purchase in the store had it existed.

Hidden Objects

The game has a few misplaced objects placed far beyond what the player can actually see. These are most likely leftovers from development and were never meant to be seen.

Omashu Blocks

Nasb omashu blocks.jpg

High above Omashu rests two rectangular pieces of geometry. It's possible to locate these by using UnityExplorer.

Space Madness Cube

Nasb Spacemadness cube.png

Space Madness has a cube that is placed out of bounds. Possibly meant for development purposes, it can only be seen by using FreeCam in UnityExplorer.
