Proto:Plants vs. Zombies (Windows, Mac OS X)

This page details one or more prototype versions of Plants vs. Zombies (Windows, Mac OS X).

On October 7th, 2021, a TCRF Discord member by the name of 'chemist with 2 shoes' contacted two former PopCap beta testers via Reddit, in which they acquired two prototype builds of Plants vs. Zombies. Both builds cannot be opened as-is, and must be patched externally via methods such as Cheat Engine to access. This is because public beta builds of games use a beta user account authorization system hosted on PopCap's beta testing servers, which are most likely long since shut down. A patched executable file is required in order to run them without using external sources.

Note that both builds are based on the initial release of the game, or in other words, before the GOTY version of the game released, explaining the lack of achievements and the existence of the Michael Jackson zombie.
