The American bicentennial sees the release of some of the first ever cartridge-based and microprocessor-based systems, including the Fairchild Channel F and the Atari VCS, later to be re-labelled as the Atari 2600. The first ever controversial game, Death Race, is also released to massive complaints due to its violence. Breakout is also released to arcades by Atari, becoming a huge hit. Apple Computer opens shop too, getting a humble start with the Apple I computers.
