The very first version of the very first Ys game. Was one of six ports initially released for various Japanese computers.

Unused Music Test

Insert Disk B in Drive 1 and boot up the computer. An error on the screen may appear, but during this time hold down "Y" and "S" together (in capitals) and this will bring up the Music Test. Each track will play through and move onto the next one, but you can also press [SPACEBAR] to cycle through them.

An insane amount of tracks are buried in this mode, completely unused. Certain tracks would be rearranged for use in later versions of the game, such as the Sega Master System port, or Ys: Book I & II, while Ys I Chronicles would end up using many of these tracks, albeit with alterations(i.e. Faster Tempo).

Fair wind by M·H

Shining star by M·I

A very bubbly song. It doesn't really fit in with the rest of the soundtrack.

Dreaming by Y·K

Used near the end of Darm Tower in Ys I Chronicles(Around the 21st floor)

Chase of shadow by Y·K

Used for certain boss fights(i.e. Yogleks & Omulgun) in Ys I Chronicles.

NHK教育 by Y·K

This song often appears with the English name "Church" online, though how accurate a name is unknown.

over drive by Y·K

旅立ち by Y·K

"Departure". Used in Ys I Chronicles for the new area Barbados Port.

悲しみクロスロード by Y·K

"Crossroad of Sadness"

Battle ground by Y·K

Mysterious moment by Y·K

アドルのテーマ by Y·K

Or in English: "Theme of Adol". This song appears in the Sega Master System port, where it was also unused. A rearranged version of the song would eventually get used for the opening cutscene of Ys: Book I & II

Dead-end street by Y·K

A panic-y sort of tune. Something you'd hear when the game takes a dramatic turn for the worst.

Sub-mission by Y·K

Unused Text

Included in the source code is (what appears to be) a mockup of the status page. However, a number of inventory items are incorrect and all the values are listed as plain text. It is likely this was a placeholder until a proper status page based on character stats. and equipment was made.
