Developer Message

At $304 in the Japanese ROM the message

$FFE1EE ni $FFFF(word) wo kakikomu to, ADOL ga Sinanai.

appears. It translates roughly to "if you write word $FFFF to $FFE1EE, Adol won't die" — and in fact, the patch code FFE1EE:FFFF does exactly that, in the "colliding with an enemy does nothing" fashion. The cheat also works in the American version of the game, but the message was removed.
