Developer Message

At $304 in the Japanese ROM the message

$FFE1EE ni $FFFF(word) wo kakikomu to, ADOL ga Sinanai. 

appears. It translates roughly to "if you write word $FFFF to $FFE1EE, Adol won't die" — and in fact, the patch code FFE1EE:FFFF does exactly that, in the "colliding with an enemy does nothing" fashion. A "UNDEAD" text confirming the code input will appear in the lower left margin of the screen and will stay there. The cheat also works in the American version of the game, but the developer message was removed.
