Proto:Tetris (NES, Tengen)

This page details one or more prototype versions of Tetris (NES, Tengen).

This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

Four prototypes of Tengen's Tetris were released on January 1, 2022 as part of Hidden Palace's huge New Year's 2022 release.

Notably, all of them more closely resemble Atari Games' Tetris for Vs. System than they do the final game.

Prototype A The earliest known dumped build, with different graphics for the title screen, Tetriminos, and the board compared to later builds.

Prototype B A later build with a noticeably different title theme that is nowhere to be found in the final game, and a new title screen lacking the falling Tetriminos that form the logo.

Prototype C Later build, with the level clear jingle playing every time 10 lines are cleared, but only in this build. Also, things slowly more and more fall into place (hah).

Prototype D Similar to Prototype C, but with the non-simultaneous clearing of lines being reverted to the way it was before Prototype C.
