Tetris by Microsoft is a game whose existence is a well-kept secret. Why this game wasn't shipped with Windows instead of, say, Solitaire, is probably because of licensing hold-ups.

Background Settings Dialogue Box

WEPTetrisBackground.png

There is a dialogue box that enables players to edit each level's background by specifying a bitmap file or a solid color. It is not known if non-tiled custom bitmaps work (the previous bitmap is not cleared until the application is restarted), or if it is just obstructed by the game at the center of the screen. It is otherwise fully functional. There is no browse option, so the full path and filename must be typed manually (or pasted). Solid colors for each level are fixed and cannot be changed. This can be accessed from a menu item or accelerator with an id of 131. Changes are saved to tetris.ini.
