Internal Project Name
Tri Force Heroes is referred to internally as "Alice". The reason for this becomes apparent when looking at the internal names of other Zelda games released in the same timeframe: Ocarina of Time 3D is known as "Queen", The Wind Waker HD is known as "King", A Link Between Worlds is known as "Jack" and Majora's Mask 3D is known as "Joker". Tri Force Heroes's name might seem out of place, until you remember the playing card elements in the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland, which this seems to be a reference to. The internal name may also be reflected by the game's two-letter code "A3" ("A" for Alice" and "3" for the three Links).
Music
Boss Battle Intro Drum Roll
The Boss Battle theme contains drumming for the first part of the song. However, Links cannot Totem during this part of the song, as the cutscene is playing. The music only adds the drum line when Links are Totem...ing. Therefore, this part of the song is unused.
The unused drumming

Kakariko?
The music for Hytopia's main outside area is called "kakariko"...even though Kakariko isn't present in the game whatsoever. How mysterious!
Unused Text
E3 2015 Demo Text
To do: Check if this is used in the dumped E3 demo build |
A file called E3Flow.msbt contains the following text, presumably leftover from E3 2015. The only difference in the European version is "Start" not being capitalized.

DLC Costumes

Unused Graphics
Unused Outfit
An unused model can be found for an outfit called "highfairy", which translates to Great Fairy. It looks identical to the Great Fairies seen in A Link Between Worlds. The model itself also seems to be from an early point in development, as Link's face is sort of a hybrid of his appearance between the two games.
Concept art shown in an issue of Nintendo Dream shows what seems to be another look of the costume. This is evident by the icon used for the costume being a duplicate of Queen of Hearts.
Dummy Level Preview Icon
A dummy icon for the Level previews. The screenshot used was taken from A Link Between Worlds. The Japanese text reads "Octo plains".
Unused Material
Three unused materials, referred to as "Cute Frill", "Syarasyara" and "Tuyatuya" in their filenames. The text on the latter two reads kari, meaning "temporary".
Unused Communication Icon
Three Communication Icons for a yawning Link. The numbering of the files indicate they were meant as part of the Lobby Icons before getting left out. Notable are their rough quality compared to the others and Green Link's yellow hair.
The Lady's Eyes
The Lady has eyes textured on her model which are hidden behind her sunglasses and never seen in-game. The model contains two additional frames depicting her blinking, though there is no defined animation that uses them.
