Blaster Master Boy is actually the sequel to the NES game Robo Warrior. Basically, this game is more closely related to Bomberman than it is Blaster Master.

The boss of stage 4 is a snake-like creature that travels around the arena while expanding its body. It was changed from... some one-eyed thing, to something that looks more like an actual snake, possibly in an attempt to make it look less phallic.
