Proto:Nintendo DSi

From The Cutting Room Floor
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This page details one or more prototype versions of Nintendo DSi.

A prototype Nintendo DSi was found on December 2018, and dumped on May 2019, containing a prototype System Settings app titled "SDK 6291", as well as a hidden Launcher that would run a check on the console on startup.

Another version was found on December 2019 titled "SDK 7739", with the rom dump coming from a Nintendo DSi devkit. The System Settings and Launcher roms were erased at some point, but was recovered with the help of file recovery tools.

Menu Differences

Hmmm...
To do:
The DSi prototype menu is stored in VRAM, now we just need a way to trigger it. There are also 2 different revisions, if only we had the ticket and tmd from the 2nd revision...

The menu is much more basic looking, but most of the options seen on a retail DSi are present.

For some reason, in the Launcher starting at 0x148678 near the end of the rom, a mix of (Free)DOS and Internet Explorer text strings and commands can be found.

This seems to be a compile error, as SDK 7739 removed all text strings.
